Every year for one weekend in late June, locals and visitors are treated to an awesome arts and crafts showcase. This gathering features world-class artists, and craftsmen and women from the southwest and around the world. The talent and skill that is exhibited here is exquisite in detail and masterful in scope. Wood workers and blacksmiths, sculptors, painters, potters, weavers and jewelers exhibit and sell their work at reasonable prices. Food, beverages and tickets are available for a morning, afternoon or evening of browsing and buying beautiful art work and fine crafts. The festival takes place at the state fairgrounds. While you're visiting the balloon festival, make sure to stop by this artsy gala. The arts and crafts showcase features artists from the Southwest and around the world. Some of the biggest shows in New Mexico are held at the Coliseum including the annual State Fair. An interesting feature of this venue is its retractable performance stage. After say, a musical event, the entire stage can be elevated in to the ceiling, leaving the floor bare for other activities. This proves useful during major events such as the National Team Roping Championships and the International Arabian Horse show.
