Cornelis Krusemanstraat 15 Amsterdam 1075 NB Netherlands +31 (0)20 679 0877 |
Aujourd'hui is located in a monumental corner house just a bit outside the city centre, near the Vondelpark. This is one of the best restaurants in the area. The food is of excellent quality, the interior is beautiful and the staff prove knowledgeable and friendly. Outside dining is available, weather permitting. Prices are not cheap, but are fair for the quality of food and service. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This is French cuisine with delicious touches of Italy - a brasserie with the allure of a Parisian boulevard café. In the summer, Beems has a large terrace, making it the perfect central lunch destination. The kitchen is open until 9:30p, so dinner is also a possibility. A three-course menu is offered here, but items may also be ordered à la carte. A small menu featuring lighter, lunch-type dishes is available until 5pm. The food served here is of high quality; there is also a delicatessen on premises. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This charming cafe in the De Jordaan district offers a wide range of drinks and food in a comfortable setting. There is also space on a floating platform outside that is ideal during nice weather. In addition to the wide selection of beers, wines, coffees, and teas, the cafe has a full menu of snacks. High Quality Thai |
Reguliersdwarsstraat 30 Amsterdam 1017 BM Netherlands +31 (0)20 626 8400 http://dynasty.orientalrestaur... |
One might expect a lot from a member of Fine Eastern Restaurants - and guests won't be disappointed in a visit to Dynasty. Both the food and staff here certainly live up to one's expectations. The menu features many tempting dishes from the Orient. Specialities include dishes from Burma, Vietnam and especially Thailand and China, with ingredients such as duck, lobster, lamb and Szechuan pepper. Due to it's popularity, booking in advance is advisable. If you call to book and the weather is good, ask for a table outside in the courtyard. Parties of up to 25 people can make use of the special Oriental room. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Relaxed eatery |
Linnaeusstraat 11 Amsterdam 1093 VD Netherlands +31 (0)20 665 0743 |
The restaurant has a very typical essence of the East - from its cane furniture, high windows, yellowish walls to huge elephants painted behind the bar. It's a very chirpy and comfortable place as lots of light flows right through the windows. Food is palatable but not really the best you would find in the region and the staff is pretty affable and helpful. It has an outdoor seating arrangement with a pretty view but during the winter it is quite impossible to sit outside. The crowd that pours in is a mix of tourists, students and locals, especially those who visit the nearby museum. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Focus on food |
Johannes Vermeerstraat 52 Amsterdam 1071 DM Netherlands +31 (0)20 662 8173 |
Loetje, a favorite of the locals, offers steak, fillet and fries. Try the popular Sate, based in peanut sauce. Service doesn't get any points and definitely needs to be upgraded. Food served is however delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is casual and you can take your kids and pets too. The al fresco seating is ideal during the summers. And you may even dine alone here because this is one venue where you can expect nothing more than just tasty food. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Utrechtsestraat 137 Amsterdam 1017 VM Netherlands +31 (0)20 627 0575 http://www.huyschkaemer.nl/ |
The first thing that strikes you as you walk into this restaurant is its unique decor. The blue-and-orange interior is vamped up with ladders, huge windows and metal accessories that create a post-industrial effect. Locals, tourists, gays and the generally arty clan can be seen enjoying meals and drinks in the laid-back ambiance. The place has a neat bar counter, where you can catch up on the latest news over a drink. Since it is located on the Utrechtsestraat—a street full of stores and eateries—De Huyschkaemer is constantly abuzz with people moving in and out. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Taste of Africa |
Rapenburgerplein 6 Amsterdam 1011 VB Netherlands +31 (0)20 622 3485 http://www.restaurantkilimanja... |
In the cold environs of Amsterdam, step into this African paradise. Kilimanjaro is known for its great pan-African cuisine, including traditional and contemporary dishes. Unleash your animal side with exotic fare like Crocodile Steak or Antelope Goulash. Vegetarians have no fear; they serve vegetarian dishes, best eaten with your hands of course! You can wash it all down with unique drinks like banana beer, or a variety of yummy cocktails. If the menu gets too confusing, just let the staff set up the best meal for you. In warmer weather, enjoy your food on the cool summer patio. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sophisticated Italian |
Westerdoksdijk 40 Amsterdam 1013 AE Netherlands +31 (0)20 330 0456 http://www.onassisamsterdam.nl/ |
Onassis is a red-hot, upscale restaurant and bar at 40 Westerdoksdijk Street. A shipping factory once, it is now transformed into an urban hangout that somewhat resembles a luxury liner. Italian cuisine is prepared in a see through kitchen where chefs sweat it out to present near-perfect entrees and desserts. The deck area is a nice place to converse, while watching barges go by. Live music and DJs take turns to set the mood for the patrons. No relation to Aristotle though! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Top location restaurant combining French, Italian and Dutch influences |
Brouwersgracht 60 Amsterdam 1013 GX Netherlands +31 20 622 1095 http://www.diningcity.com/ams/... |
This restaurant is located in the Jordan area, which is filled to the brim with those famous Amsterdam canals and, if the weather permits it, you can enjoy your meal on the terrace overlooking two, yes, count them, two canals. You can have a nice drink at the bar before you sit down for your meal amdist the lovely Art Nouveau decor that is prevalent in Belhamel. This is one for people who like something different. The cuisine is French/Italian orientated but you can even go for some Dutch cuisine. The main dishes are quite special and include some game and fish dishes. You're best making reservations because this restaurant is understandably popular among locals for its intimate feel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

'Glassy' dining! |
Kamerlingh Onneslaan 3 Amsterdam 1097 DE Netherlands +31 (0)20 462 4562 http://www.restaurantdekas.nl/ |
As you walk into this well-lit restaurant, you might for a moment wonder whether you've reached a 27 feet high glass conservatory. The glass walls enable your eyes to feast on beautiful views of the greenery outside, as you enjoy your four-course lunch. Come by for a romantic evening, to dine on a five course meal under the starry sky. The menu changes daily and the wine list weekly. The restaurant is divided into various sections— the restaurant for one, then there is the Bar Table, Business Table, Patio, Garden Room and not to forget the Chef's Table, where you are left to the mercy of the staff in the kitchen. What's more most of the ingredients used here are organic and are purchased from local farmers or handgrown by them at Purmer polder. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Take your mom out for that long due dinner that you promised her and what better place than Restaurant Moeders. The walls are splashed with pictures of doting mothers. The interiors have a very homely feel to it, mostly done up in green. Take up a cozy seat in a corner or go out and dine alfresco. There is an a la carte menu on offer. The 'Mmm...Mama's Happas' are recommended and come cheap too. Pair your meal with a pick from the wine list. Don't forget to relish the yummy desserts. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The menu features mainly small snacks - Spanish tapas and salads - but you can also order a complete dinner. The food is high quality and is all made with fresh ingredients. Dishes have a distinctive French/Mediterranean quality. This place can be described as half restaurant, half café. The interior is characterised by wooden tables, lots of mirrors and plants and a very high ceiling. This is a popular spot amongst students. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Holland's original Mexican restaurant |
Reguliersdwarsstraat 38-40 Amsterdam 1017 BM Netherlands +31 (0)20 625 9797 http://www.rosescantina.com |
Rose's Cantina is probably the oldest Mexican restaurant in The Netherlands, and it is located right in the centre of Amsterdam on one of its busiest streets. It opened its doors as early as 1980 and is still quite popular amongst local residents. The Cantina serves traditional Mexican cuisine, prepared with free-range meat and chicken. The large bar inside offers an array of cocktails and a large selection of other drinks such as Mexican beer. The menu shows a lot of variation. All traditional Mexican dishes are served with guacamole, beans, or rice. In addition, it serves daily specials and steaks. In the summertime it is possible to enjoy your meal out on the patio. This bar is one of the best places in the city to enjoy alternative music and grunge apart from other types of rock and heavy metal. A host of games such as pinball, pool and darts add to the lively atmosphere that's buzzing with people. Expect to bump into anybody from a business person to a tattoo artist at this bar. Regular DJ performances, free film screening and acoustic sessions are also part of the interesting itinerary here. Like all of that wasn't enough, a little outdoor garden and a terrace overlooking the canal are among the bar's additional features. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Original French cuisine |
Weteringschans 175 Amsterdam 1017 XD Netherlands +31 (0)20 622 8292 |
The cuisine of Van Vlaanderen is based on original French recipes which have been reworked into modern cuisine. The atmosphere is informal, the staff young and friendly and the ingredients are always fresh. Prices are reasonable. A few other remarkable dishes are available that come especially recommended. Examples are: the Plate Without Prejudice, the Triple M or Marc's Market Mix. A daily game dish and vegetarian set menu are also on the menu and an international wine list guarantees the perfect complement to your meal. On sunny days, it is possible to eat outside.
