Good Chinese restaurant |
Rijnstraat 51 Amsterdam 1078 PZ Netherlands +31 (0)20 644 7786 |
China Grand is one of the better average-priced Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam, and is located on one of the city's main roads that lead to the centre. Its specialities are Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine. Any of these dishes is highly recommended and are made with beef, pork, lamb, chicken, seafood or vegetables. The various dishes with Szechuan sauce, a sweet and spicy sauce with vegetables, are tangy and tasty. Apart from the original Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine, China Grand also offers many other Chinese dishes, which are mostly a little bit cheaper than the ones mentioned before, as well as a lot of different Chinese rice-tables. High Quality Thai |
Reguliersdwarsstraat 30 Amsterdam 1017 BM Netherlands +31 (0)20 626 8400 http://dynasty.orientalrestaur... |
One might expect a lot from a member of Fine Eastern Restaurants - and guests won't be disappointed in a visit to Dynasty. Both the food and staff here certainly live up to one's expectations. The menu features many tempting dishes from the Orient. Specialities include dishes from Burma, Vietnam and especially Thailand and China, with ingredients such as duck, lobster, lamb and Szechuan pepper. Due to it's popularity, booking in advance is advisable. If you call to book and the weather is good, ask for a table outside in the courtyard. Parties of up to 25 people can make use of the special Oriental room. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tasty Indonesian cuisine |
Ceintuurbaan 103 Amsterdam 1072 EX Netherlands +31 (0)20 671 0979 http://www.finerestaurant.nl/ |
Dèsa offers everything one might expect from an Indonesian restaurant. This 125-seat space serves selected Indonesian dishes cooked in the original style. Guests can enjoy a typical Indonesian "rice-table", which offers all kinds of different dishes from the former Dutch colony. The restaurant is also very well-suited to vegetarians, offering also a vegetarian "rice-table". All dishes are also available à la carte. Particularly noteworthy is the Ayam Goreng Kuning: Marinated Fried Chicken. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Arty Indonesian eatery |

This rather large Indonesian restaurant, in which all food is authentically prepared, is located in the very heart of Amsterdam. Both the interior and the cuisine are reflections of the rich Indonesian culinary tradition. The original sate platters are excellent, with five different ones available. Main courses include various red meat, chicken, egg, fish or vegetable dishes as well as the traditional nasi or bami dishes. Particularly noteworthy are their rice-tables. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Japanese Grillhouse |
Scheldestraat 1 Amsterdam 1078 GD Netherlands +31 (0)20 679 0439 http://www.kushitei.nl/ |
Situated next to the Okura hotel, this Japanese bar and grillhouse serves the famous Yakitori dishes in a very Japanese manner. The food is skewered on small sticks and grilled. For convenience, the management has created two different set menus, which allow diners to sit back and taste a wide selection of dishes. Both set menus consist of 10 sticks. However, the option still remains to order à la carte. Guests must order a minimum of five sticks. Examples of dishes are: asparagus wrapped in bacon and grilled fillet steak. The proprietors have also started a sushi takeaway next to the restaurant in which, besides sushi, they sell Japanese snacks as well as original Japanese dinner-sets. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Inexpensive Chinese cuisine |
Zeedijk 111-113 Amsterdam 1012 AV Netherlands +31 (0)20 624 3470 http://www.namkee.nl/ |
The Zeedijk is the perfect place to go if you want tasty, quality food. This charming Chinese restaurant is located a short walk away from the Centraal Station. Don't be fooled by the low price list; the food served here will satisfy your taste buds and tummy. The interiors leave little scope for a candlelit dinner, yet the ambiance coupled with a varied menu allows for a cheery meal with friends. Despite its regular hungry hordes, there is efficient service, which makes for pleasurable dining. Review © 2007, Wcities |

True to Thai |
Elandsgracht 29 Amsterdam 1016 TM Netherlands +31 (0)20 620 9551 / +31 (0)20 627 5012 |
For a unique Thai experience in Amsterdam, step into Rakang Thai. With a lovely ambience and good service to boast of, this restaurant also serves mouth watering regional dishes. The freshest of ingredients and spices, combined with the authentic recipes make for an interesting dining experience. If you want to relish the true flavors, then make sure you mention it because the food could taste a little bland otherwise. The venue gets quite busy but don't worry in case you don't get a table, order some food to-go—the neighboring shop takes care of the take away orders. Review © 2007, Wcities |
