Expensive French cuisine in Amsterdam-South |
Cornelis Krusemanstraat 15 Amsterdam 1075 NB Netherlands +31 (0)20 679 0877 |
Aujourd'hui is located in a monumental corner house just a bit outside the city centre, near the Vondelpark. This is one of the best restaurants in the area. The food is of excellent quality, the interior is beautiful and the staff prove knowledgeable and friendly. Outside dining is available, weather permitting. Prices are not cheap, but are fair for the quality of food and service. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Belgian all the way |
Herenstraat 3 Amsterdam 1015 BX Netherlands +31 (0)20 626 3332 |
After a romantic boat ride along the Amstel River, halt at Chez Georges for a quiet continental dinner. This small but charming restaurant serves up an appetizing Belgian fare. The interiors have a classic influence complemented with mirrors and attractive wallpapers and dim lighting. Be prepared to order a whole seven course meal because, once you start there's no stopping. You can choose the gourmet menu or opt for the a la carte. The special treat comes with a steep price. So be prepared to shell out quite an amount. Go ahead and feast the Belgian way! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Focus on food |
Johannes Vermeerstraat 52 Amsterdam 1071 DM Netherlands +31 (0)20 662 8173 |
Loetje, a favorite of the locals, offers steak, fillet and fries. Try the popular Sate, based in peanut sauce. Service doesn't get any points and definitely needs to be upgraded. Food served is however delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is casual and you can take your kids and pets too. The al fresco seating is ideal during the summers. And you may even dine alone here because this is one venue where you can expect nothing more than just tasty food. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A historical trip |
Nieuwmarkt 4 Amsterdam 1012 CR Netherlands +31 (0)20 422 7772 |
The name befits the location: a trip to "In de Waag" will find you within the walls of the city's oldest building, at the bustling city center. Built in 1488, the structure's design and décor takes one back to its glory days. Careful preservation and embellishment with candles and mood lighting give the interiors a warm, romantic and classy ambiance. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Home of Holland's TV-cook |
Ruysdaelstraat 54-56 Amsterdam 1071 XE Netherlands +31 20 679 7176 http://www.restaurantlegarage.nl/ |
Restaurant Le Garage is named after the function of the building in the Fifties. The modern restaurant is owned by television star and Crazy Cook Joop Braakhekke. This is a very stylish and glossy restaurant. It serves an extensive menu and a delicious three-course dinner for a set price whilst light meals are cooked with great relish. Both the food and the interior have succumbed to French influences. You will find here professional waiting-staff and a lot of velvet, sofas, paintings, and mirrors! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sophisticated Italian |
Westerdoksdijk 40 Amsterdam 1013 AE Netherlands +31 (0)20 330 0456 http://www.onassisamsterdam.nl/ |
Onassis is a red-hot, upscale restaurant and bar at 40 Westerdoksdijk Street. A shipping factory once, it is now transformed into an urban hangout that somewhat resembles a luxury liner. Italian cuisine is prepared in a see through kitchen where chefs sweat it out to present near-perfect entrees and desserts. The deck area is a nice place to converse, while watching barges go by. Live music and DJs take turns to set the mood for the patrons. No relation to Aristotle though! Review © 2007, Wcities |
