Modern Irish Flair |
Max Euweplein 73 Amsterdam, NH 1071 Netherlands +31 20 422 2897 http://www.aranpub.com/ |
For a laid-back bar atmosphere in the heart of Amsterdam, check out Aran Pub, one of the newer additions to the city's Irish pub scene. You can enjoy nice weather outside on the terrace overlooking Vondelpark, or step indoors and chat with the bartender over a pint of Guinness. The expansive space and outdoor seating allow for large numbers of diners, making this a great place to meet and greet with fellow patrons. In addition to the variety of drinks available, the pub also serves a range of dishes, such as soups, fish n' chips, sandwiches, omelettes, and much more. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Expensive French restaurant in Okura Hotel |
Ferdinand Bolstraat 333 Amsterdam 1072 LH Netherlands +31 (0)20 678 7450 http://www.okura.nl/index2.php... |
This respected restaurant (ranked in the Dutch top 50) is to be found on the 23rd floor of the Okura Hotel, located in the immediate vicinity of Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Concertgebouw. From this floor, you will have an unbelievable view over the city of Amsterdam and its surrounding area. The cuisine is cosmopolitan French, but once in a while you can discover some Oriental or seasonal influences. The service is good and formal. Prices are, rather predictably, very high but you do get dishes of a superb quality. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Relaxed eatery |
Linnaeusstraat 11 Amsterdam 1093 VD Netherlands +31 (0)20 665 0743 |
The restaurant has a very typical essence of the East - from its cane furniture, high windows, yellowish walls to huge elephants painted behind the bar. It's a very chirpy and comfortable place as lots of light flows right through the windows. Food is palatable but not really the best you would find in the region and the staff is pretty affable and helpful. It has an outdoor seating arrangement with a pretty view but during the winter it is quite impossible to sit outside. The crowd that pours in is a mix of tourists, students and locals, especially those who visit the nearby museum. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Trendy food with a fabulous view |
Amstel 2 Amsterdam 1017 AA Netherlands +31 (0)20 639 2899 |
Restaurant Inez IPSC (International Private Society Club) was opened by the late Peter Giele, founder of other trendy spots around town; his wife Inez runs it. The menu includes Asian and Middle Eastern influences, is as flamboyant as the colorful interior, and complemented by stylish service. You can order à la carte or choose a fixed-price menu. An ideal place for the hip and trendy, this restaurant lies in the middle of the city center. The spectacular view overlooking Munt leads artists, designers and diners alike to find inspiration here. Sophisticated Italian |
Westerdoksdijk 40 Amsterdam 1013 AE Netherlands +31 (0)20 330 0456 http://www.onassisamsterdam.nl/ |
Onassis is a red-hot, upscale restaurant and bar at 40 Westerdoksdijk Street. A shipping factory once, it is now transformed into an urban hangout that somewhat resembles a luxury liner. Italian cuisine is prepared in a see through kitchen where chefs sweat it out to present near-perfect entrees and desserts. The deck area is a nice place to converse, while watching barges go by. Live music and DJs take turns to set the mood for the patrons. No relation to Aristotle though! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Dine with a view |
Leidsegracht 29 Amsterdam 1017 NB Netherlands +31 (0)20 622 1701 http://www.pastini.nl/ |
This trattoria has the location, food, and service to make your day. That's why Pastini has patrons flocking in to drink in the atmosphere and sample the succulent fare. Linguine Pollo, Insalata Cesare, Tagliatelle Funghi, and Torta di Nonna are good meal choices at reasonable prices. The service is pleasing and swift. The location of the restaurant is a big draw. Whether alone or with company, the view of the canal and its surroundings is enough to keep you cheery. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Delicious Dinner on River Amstel |
Amstel 212 Amsterdam 1017 AH Netherlands +31 (0)20 627 7879 http://www.restaurant-breitner... |
Restaurant Breitner stands next to the Amstel, with a great view over the Magere Brug. While music is gently playing in the background, you will be received in a demure room with paintings on the walls. The restaurant offers the opportunity to order à la carte as well as from a set menu. The specialities here include partridge with walnut-salad and grilled mackerel. Wine-lovers are lucky. An arrangement about wine is also possible: three glasses for a set price. Review © 2007, Wcities |

'Glassy' dining! |
Kamerlingh Onneslaan 3 Amsterdam 1097 DE Netherlands +31 (0)20 462 4562 http://www.restaurantdekas.nl/ |
As you walk into this well-lit restaurant, you might for a moment wonder whether you've reached a 27 feet high glass conservatory. The glass walls enable your eyes to feast on beautiful views of the greenery outside, as you enjoy your four-course lunch. Come by for a romantic evening, to dine on a five course meal under the starry sky. The menu changes daily and the wine list weekly. The restaurant is divided into various sections— the restaurant for one, then there is the Bar Table, Business Table, Patio, Garden Room and not to forget the Chef's Table, where you are left to the mercy of the staff in the kitchen. What's more most of the ingredients used here are organic and are purchased from local farmers or handgrown by them at Purmer polder. Review © 2007, Wcities |
