The Nieuwmarkt and the Gelderse Kade are located on the border of the Red Light District, to be sure, but they offer a wide scope of decent and respectable activities. Among the many eating and drinking places, this brown cafe-restaurant 'Bern' distinguishes itself by its excellent kitchen and a free and easy atmosphere, where the right white whine is poured to accompany the superb speciality: Melted Cheese Dip the original Swiss way. The public is not really dominated by the just under average age group.

Located along the canal in the Jordaan neighborhood, Groene Lantaarn offers an extensive menu. Start your meal with the delicious lobster soup or the soup "de Groene Lantaarn". For the main course, select from the list of fondues—there's swiss cheese fondue, lamb fondue, meat fondue in wine and many more to choose from. Enjoy the varying flavors as they melt in your mouth. If you plan to go in a group of 10 or more, do check out their all inclusive three course menu—you have three options to choose from and can eat unlimited. But make sure to make reservations at least two days in advance.
