Very Italian |
Hemonystraat 18 Amsterdam 1074 BP Netherlands +31 (0)20 676 4182 |
Nestled in the happening Pijp area of the city, this Italian eatery is a haven for pastas and pizzas. Bruschettas, carpaccio, Toscan Beef, and other Italian preparations feature on the menu. Portions tend to be small for the prices but the food quells all disappointment. The wines and beer keep spirits high, though, the rude staff can ruin your day. The place gets crowded in the evenings, so be prepared to wait for a table as reservations are not accepted. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Delicious Italian Food |
Haarlemmerdijk 128 Amsterdam 1013 JJ Netherlands +31 (0)20 620 1409 |
This restaurant is molto Italiano ('da noi' translates to 'your place') with a real Mamma in the kitchen. The restaurant isn't big, but it is intimate and the service is charming. You'll need to book here, as it's always crowded. The menu features, amongst other things, Pasta with Lobster, Pasta Vongole and some delicious tapas. All dishes are homemade; the prices are reasonable. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Not a Pizza in Sight |
2e Egelantiersdwarsstraat 9 Amsterdam 1015 SB Netherlands +31 (0)20 626 0028 |
Hostaria, situated in the Jordaan, is a taste of the real Italy. It certainly isn't your typical tourist-trap pizzeria. The decor is, predictably, authentically Italian: images of La Loren, Ferrari and the Pope merge together, with a singing cook in the background. The cooks are inventive yet the cuisine is based on original Italian family recipes. The pastas are always fresh (made the same day) and the soups and salads are tasty. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lounge of the Trendy |
Marnixstraat 401 Amsterdam 1017 PJ Netherlands +31 20 6200 614 http://www.kamer401.nl/ |
This hip bar/pub is a popular spot for the trendy youth of the city, and it shows! As the evening progresses and tables become scarce and dining service can crawl. But with posh yet funky decor (including bright red walls and comfortable sofas) and loud music, Kamer 401 has established itself among the other modern lounges in the Leidseplein area. Stop by after a show or before heading out to the clubs-- and if hunger strikes, you can grab some Italian fare with your martini. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Constantly changing menu |
Haarlemmerstraat 62 Amsterdam 1013 ES Netherlands +31 (0)20 620 2997 |
This is a popular French-Italian fusion restaurant in the Western canal belt. The eatery obviously takes pride in its cuisine, which is evident in the display of the chef's hat, next to the kitchen. You could also guess the same from the name, which means 'praise' in Dutch. The menu keeps changing, depending on the vegetables and meats available in the market. The oysters, fish, and vegetarian dishes will have you coming back for more. The decor comprises of wooden chairs and bare brick walls. You also have an option of dining in the main area or the room upstairs. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sophisticated Italian |
Westerdoksdijk 40 Amsterdam 1013 AE Netherlands +31 (0)20 330 0456 http://www.onassisamsterdam.nl/ |
Onassis is a red-hot, upscale restaurant and bar at 40 Westerdoksdijk Street. A shipping factory once, it is now transformed into an urban hangout that somewhat resembles a luxury liner. Italian cuisine is prepared in a see through kitchen where chefs sweat it out to present near-perfect entrees and desserts. The deck area is a nice place to converse, while watching barges go by. Live music and DJs take turns to set the mood for the patrons. No relation to Aristotle though! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Gourmet Delights of Two Continents |
Plantage Kerklaan 19 Amsterdam, NH 1018 SZ Netherlands +31 20 622 2129 http://www.pastavilla.nl |
Italian and Turkish cuisine greet each other on the menu of this tavern like restaurant serving delicious pastas, pizzas and Turkish fillets. The kebabs and spicy lamp whipped up in traditional Middle Eastern style are quite a treat. The first-timers to Pasta Villa Pizzeria will swear a lifelong commitment to the eatery once they dig into the Guvec(a mixture of lamb's meat, egg-plant, onion, pepper, potatoes and garlic). The spaghetti, macaroni and ravioli are thick, creamy and saucy. Go easy on it because there's more in the offing, there are Turkish pizzas(Sultan does full justice to its name). You can also try the ones with spicy Turkish sausages. Wrap up with a Tiramisu or Dame Blanche. The only trouble is, carrying yourself back home. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Opera singing waiters in this popular restaurant |
Nieuwe Spiegelstraat 8 Amsterdam 1017 DE Netherlands +31 (0)20 422 2222 / +31 (0)20 422 2226 http://www.pastaebasta.nl |
Italian food is nice isn't it? But Italian restaurants can get a bit boring. When you've seen one ceiling covered with fishing nets, you've seen them all. That's where Pasta e Basta comes in. The food is good, no complaints, and the prices aren't too bad. What makes this place different is the opera singing waiters. Yes, you read it right the first time. This place is very popular and you'll have to make reservations, but if after reading this review you are not instantly scared away at the thought of some strange person serenading you whilst you're eating, you're sure to enjoy yourself. Dine with a view |
Leidsegracht 29 Amsterdam 1017 NB Netherlands +31 (0)20 622 1701 http://www.pastini.nl/ |
This trattoria has the location, food, and service to make your day. That's why Pastini has patrons flocking in to drink in the atmosphere and sample the succulent fare. Linguine Pollo, Insalata Cesare, Tagliatelle Funghi, and Torta di Nonna are good meal choices at reasonable prices. The service is pleasing and swift. The location of the restaurant is a big draw. Whether alone or with company, the view of the canal and its surroundings is enough to keep you cheery. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Restaurant and shop |
Van Baerlestraat 67 Amsterdam 1071 AR Netherlands +31 (0)20 673 1673 http://www.renzos.nl/ |
Renzo's is a Mediterranean culinary temple - the place to be if you're looking for tasty Italian, Greek and Spanish foods such as fresh pasta, pies, salad, bread, tapas, risotto, tiramisu, cheeses and meats. This establishment also trades as a food wholesaler, retailer, and preparation center and runs its own restaurant across the way. Although some might even argue that it's a restaurant with an adjacent shop! The warm Italian cooking aromas which pervade attract many a passer-by. The home-made pasta is delicious and their pies and quiches are created from Greek, Spanish and Italian grandmothers' recipes. The filling chocolate cake is definitely something not to be missed! In short, real food, real taste and fresh ingredients form the basis of their philosophy. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Top location restaurant combining French, Italian and Dutch influences |
Brouwersgracht 60 Amsterdam 1013 GX Netherlands +31 20 622 1095 http://www.diningcity.com/ams/... |
This restaurant is located in the Jordan area, which is filled to the brim with those famous Amsterdam canals and, if the weather permits it, you can enjoy your meal on the terrace overlooking two, yes, count them, two canals. You can have a nice drink at the bar before you sit down for your meal amdist the lovely Art Nouveau decor that is prevalent in Belhamel. This is one for people who like something different. The cuisine is French/Italian orientated but you can even go for some Dutch cuisine. The main dishes are quite special and include some game and fish dishes. You're best making reservations because this restaurant is understandably popular among locals for its intimate feel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Old Family Recipes |
Reguliersdwarsstraat 80-82 Amsterdam 1017 BN Netherlands +31 20 623 3862 http://www.dantica.nl/ |
This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Amsterdam. By combining old family recipes with a very authentic atmosphere, d'Antica succeeds in providing a little slice of Italy in downtown Amsterdam. Choose from any of about 10 fresh pasta dishes and enjoy a nice Italian salad for lunch. If you decide to go for dinner, you'll find Italian specialties, including pasta, antipasti, meat and fish dishes. Add to this the daily specials and surprise menus and what it comes down to is simple: if you are in any way a fan of Italian cuisine you really must give this place a visit. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A taste of it all |
Daniel Stalpertstraat 93 Amsterdam 1072 XD Netherlands +31 (0)20 620 5959 http://www.restaurantsilex.nl/ |
Let your palate experience some new flavors at this chic local restaurant. French food takes on an Italian twist as fresh fish, juicy meats, chunky crustaceans and leafy greens get tossed in mysterious seasonings. The cream-and-brown interiors topped with fancy chandeliers set the mood as you sidle into a comfy seat. A part of the menu is made from organic ingredients, while the wine reaffirms the restaurants motto. And what is that? Come and find out! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tutti Italiani |
Weteringschans 171 Amsterdam 1017 XD Netherlands +31 (0)20 623 4251 http://www.lastoriadellavita.nl/ |
Italian food lovers can congregate at La Storia della Vita to savor dishes such as Misto di Pesce, Linguine con Scampi e Arangia, and Gamberi al Cognac. Authentic spirits from Italy such as Sambuca, Grappa and Amaretto don't fail to please. There's also a wine list with classic selections and a decent pricing. Remember to leave room for Panna-cotta al Caffe to finish off your meal. A pianist and amateur crooners entertain diners with Italian arias and impromptu songs. A nice place to bring that special someone. Review © 2007, Wcities |
