Happening Japanese joint |
Weteringschans 199 Amsterdam 1017 XG Netherlands +31 (0)20 627 0607 |
Run by a young couple, An specializes in authentic Japanese cuisine. The open kitchen provides guests a peep into the chef's quick cooking styles. The ambiance puts you at ease instantly as you mull over the menu. The place doesn't have a liquor license, so bring your own along. The fare is well-priced with decent portions. A take away counter is at hand for those who are on the move. Give An a try, when in Grachtengordel. There's a fat chance you'll enjoy yourself. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Good Japanese restaurant |
Jekerstraat 114 Amsterdam 1078 MJ Netherlands +31 (0)20 662 5641 |
Restaurant Kaiko, located near the Okura Hotel, is actually a small sushi bar in which you can get traditional Japanese food at pretty reasonable prices. The chef is an entertaining expert who makes the most wonderful variations (and there are a lot of them) of sushi and sashimi. The more expensive ones are a real treat though, as they are prepared with rare ingredients such as sea urchin. Kaiko offers plenty of set menus in various price ranges, including a vegetarian one. The set menus include a salad, sashimi, sushi, sake or miso soup. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Japanese Grillhouse |
Scheldestraat 1 Amsterdam 1078 GD Netherlands +31 (0)20 679 0439 http://www.kushitei.nl/ |
Situated next to the Okura hotel, this Japanese bar and grillhouse serves the famous Yakitori dishes in a very Japanese manner. The food is skewered on small sticks and grilled. For convenience, the management has created two different set menus, which allow diners to sit back and taste a wide selection of dishes. Both set menus consist of 10 sticks. However, the option still remains to order à la carte. Guests must order a minimum of five sticks. Examples of dishes are: asparagus wrapped in bacon and grilled fillet steak. The proprietors have also started a sushi takeaway next to the restaurant in which, besides sushi, they sell Japanese snacks as well as original Japanese dinner-sets. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sushi bar |
Jonge Roelensteeg 4 Amsterdam 1012 PL Netherlands +31 (0)20 777 3010 |
Stereo Bar is a trendy hangout for young people and those who love sushi. Formerly known as Stereo Sushi, this joint is located in a quiet alley in the Old City Centre. Sip on sake among other spirits, and groove to the music. DJs enthrall crowds late into the night. The hotspot may be a little claustrophobic, but the sashimi, sushi, sake and house music prod you to linger on. Review © 2007, Wcities |
