Loved by Michelin |
Leliegracht 46 Amsterdam 1015 DH Netherlands +31 (0)20 625 0807 http://www.christophe.nl/ |
For the gourmet whose wallet matches his appetite, Christophe is one of the few restaurants in Amsterdam with a Michelin star. You will find a quiet setting of dark wood and thick carpets; an excellent choice for a romantic evening. Owner Christophe Royer makes himself available to discuss the menu. The restaurant was awarded the Michelin star for its inspired cooking, adding innovation to Mediterranean staples like basil, olive oil and saffron to create temptations like White Asparagus with oysters, and Roasted Rabbit. Private dining is available. See website for menu, philosophy and more. Review © 2007, Wcities |

French cuisine |
Van der Helstplein 17 Amsterdam 1073 AR Netherlands +31 (0)20 770 0884 http://www.district5.nl/ |
District V (five) is a very classy restaurant located in the heart of one of Amsterdam's most famous districts, 'De Pijp'. If you are going to have dinner here you should be warned that two things are a bit unusual. First of all they don't have a regular menu. Specialties of the day are written on a small blackboard and then dictated by your server. The menu usually includes a choice of three starters, three main courses and four desserts. Although your choices are somewhat limited, there is something here for just about everyone. The restaurant's second unusual characteristic is that everything here is for sale—the lights, the silverware, the table—in short, you can take this place home with you. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Honest Cuisine |
10 H Aambeeldstraat Amsterdam 1021 KB Netherlands +31 20 636 5170 http://www.hoteldegoudfazant.nl/ |
It may sound like a hotel, but isn't one. The Hotel de Goudfazant is a spacious no frills restaurant set in an old industrial space. An enormous chandelier will catch your attention as soon as you enter the restaurant. Go ahead, and just as you are making yourself comfortable, the cheerful and ever helpful staff will take your order. They'll also advise you on the wines that would taste best with your choice of food from the 'honest cuisine'. Roasted chicken is highly recommended by the regulars to this place. Also try the oyster ceviche, another favorite with most of the elite guests this place has earned. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Specially Designed Food |
Gosschalklaan 12 (Westerpark/ Westerdok) Amsterdam 1014 DC Netherlands +31 20 682 2656 http://www.proefrotterdam.nl/p... |
This Amsterdam eatery sets new trends in the art of cooking and presenting food. Right from ideating recipes to presenting it in a plate and creating the right kind of atmosphere, each detail is carefully looked after. 'Food Designing' as Chef Marije Vogelzang puts it is an art that involves the various stages from selecting the right ingredients to presenting a visual treat before it can be savored. Of course Chef Vogelzang's a master and you will be pleasantly surprised as each bite melts in your mouth. Proef is only available by appointment and on weekends in summer. Review © 2007, Wcities |

'Glassy' dining! |
Kamerlingh Onneslaan 3 Amsterdam 1097 DE Netherlands +31 (0)20 462 4562 http://www.restaurantdekas.nl/ |
As you walk into this well-lit restaurant, you might for a moment wonder whether you've reached a 27 feet high glass conservatory. The glass walls enable your eyes to feast on beautiful views of the greenery outside, as you enjoy your four-course lunch. Come by for a romantic evening, to dine on a five course meal under the starry sky. The menu changes daily and the wine list weekly. The restaurant is divided into various sections— the restaurant for one, then there is the Bar Table, Business Table, Patio, Garden Room and not to forget the Chef's Table, where you are left to the mercy of the staff in the kitchen. What's more most of the ingredients used here are organic and are purchased from local farmers or handgrown by them at Purmer polder. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tasty European fare |
Schollenbrugstraat 39303 Amsterdam 1091 EZ Netherlands +31 (0)20 468 6958 http://www.vandemarkt.nl/ |
This restaurant, located close to Amstel Station, is known for its Mediterranean fare. A Moroccan influence is evident in the sauces with chickpeas and nuts. As the name suggests, the ingredients are freshly procured "from the market". The decor comprises brightly-colored walls with wooden floors and tables. Vande Markt offers three-course and four-course meals. The price of these meals varies slightly depending on deductions and additions of dishes. Review © 2007, Wcities |
