Brasserie for late nights |
Van Baerlestraat 120 Amsterdam 1071 BD Netherlands +31 (0)20 675 0210 http://www.bark.nl |
This brasserie is located near the cultural centre of Amsterdam. The focus here is definitely on fish and seafood. Bark stands out from other nearby restaurants because it is open late until midnight. The interior was recently redesigned and now has an open kitchen, where guests are welcome to have a look around. Much of the clientele here are concert-goers from Museum Square. Being situated in a very important cultural part of Amsterdam, many of Bark's customers are visitors to the multitude of museums in the surrounding area. This is a lively restaurant, which combines a culinary experience with a dynamic atmosphere. It is also one of a group of restaurants known for their excellent customer service. Fish and seafood of all sorts are the specialities here: anything from tuna to shark to crab and dorado can be found on the regularly updated menu. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Home of Holland's TV-cook |
Ruysdaelstraat 54-56 Amsterdam 1071 XE Netherlands +31 20 679 7176 http://www.restaurantlegarage.nl/ |
Restaurant Le Garage is named after the function of the building in the Fifties. The modern restaurant is owned by television star and Crazy Cook Joop Braakhekke. This is a very stylish and glossy restaurant. It serves an extensive menu and a delicious three-course dinner for a set price whilst light meals are cooked with great relish. Both the food and the interior have succumbed to French influences. You will find here professional waiting-staff and a lot of velvet, sofas, paintings, and mirrors! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sophisticated Italian |
Westerdoksdijk 40 Amsterdam 1013 AE Netherlands +31 (0)20 330 0456 http://www.onassisamsterdam.nl/ |
Onassis is a red-hot, upscale restaurant and bar at 40 Westerdoksdijk Street. A shipping factory once, it is now transformed into an urban hangout that somewhat resembles a luxury liner. Italian cuisine is prepared in a see through kitchen where chefs sweat it out to present near-perfect entrees and desserts. The deck area is a nice place to converse, while watching barges go by. Live music and DJs take turns to set the mood for the patrons. No relation to Aristotle though! Review © 2007, Wcities |

You can choose to make yourself comfortable in the charming interiors or head towards the terrace garden, where you can bask in the sun and enjoy the pleasant breeze. The menu consists of an eclectic range of seafood items, which are prepared with the freshest of ingredients. Plaice and sole, turbot and angler mussels, and oysters are brought in daily from IJmuiden. When it comes to drinks, White Wine dominates the wine list, although there are quite a few Bordeaux options too. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Saunter into this 'churrascaria' for some delicious Brazilian cooking. Frequented by Brazilian expats and tourists, the place serves Feijoada and Xinxim that tastes like it's straight out of Rio. The Salad Bar offerings include Fish Salad and Tropical Salad, freshly prepared and interestingly served. The comfortable seating and friendly buzz settle you quickly as you wait for your meal, which takes a tad longer than required. Live music and regular events keep the spirits high. This popular bar and seafood restaurant has a spacious and modern interior of clean, white walls, yet a lively atmosphere and an open kitchen. On weekends, expect this place to be bustling! The menu has separate sections for poached, baked and grilled fish (most can be had either way) and of course the plateau de fruits de mer. Dishes range from fish soup to Beluga caviar. Don't leave without pairing the food with a selection from the extensive wine list and innovative cocktail menu. The restaurant is located just a short distance from Dam Square. See website for menu and more. Review © 2007, Wcities |
