Real Spanish Food |
Lange Niezel 29 Amsterdam 1012 GS Netherlands +31 (0)20 622 3050 |
Centra is the place in which to sample authentic Spanish atmosphere, wine and tapas. The Formica tables, stacks of beer crates and fluorescent lighting all add to the authentic Spanish atmosphere. A showcase dominates part of the restaurant front, featuring a small bar with low barstools, serving tapas and drinks whilst guests wait for tables. Reservations are usually futile—it's always crowded here! Spanish waiters (or so they appear as they are clad in the traditional black-and-white) serve the delicious dishes in a somewhat hectic (but friendly) manner. The prices are not especially low, but the food on the other hand is worth it. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Steakhouse with a splendid view |
Oudebrugsteeg 16 Amsterdam, NH 1012 JP Netherlands +31 20 626 1259 |
Located on the second floor of a monumental premises, Evita is your classic steakhouse albeit with a sophisticated ambiance. The eclectic eatery borrows heavily from the South American and Spanish cuisine and consistently innovates on its gourmet delights. The assortment of charcoal grilled meat is delectable and so are the crunchy salads and the sinful desserts. The beef pepper steak is a hot favorite and the barbecued chicken gives it a tough fight. But the real puller here is the panoramic view of the city at night. Amongst the dime a dozen steakhouses mushrooming all over Amsterdam, Evita stands out for more reasons than one. Spanish restaurant near Artis Zoo |
Kadijksplein 16 Amsterdam 1018 AC Netherlands +31 (0)20 623 6313 |
Opposite the Scheepvaartmuseum and new Metropolis is the Kadijksplein, one of the oldest parts of Amsterdam. On this square stands Iberia, a unique restaurant serving delicious Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. Specialities include fish, meat and rice dishes. The restaurant spans different levels and a number of dining rooms. Iberia has a lovely cellar with the famous Sherry Bodega as a feature. The walls of the restaurant are covered with plates and pictures of a whole host of Spanish artists. On one of the plates it says Lo mejor de esta casa son los clients, meaning The best thing about this house is its clients. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A Spanish favourite |
Utrechtsestraat 124 Amsterdam 1017 VT Netherlands +31 (0)20 422 6250 http://pata-negra.restaurants.... |
This restaurant, specialising in traditional Spanish tapas, is a delightful addition to the Amsterdam scene and very popular amongst locals. The tiled walls and wooden interior create an authentically Spanish atmosphere. Tapas are excellent and surprisingly affordable. Iberian ham is not to be missed—it's probably the best in town. This place is always bustling, which may not make it an ideal place for an intimate dinner. If you're in the mood for a lively night out, this is the place to go. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Almost as Spanish as Spain |
Van Breestraat 107a Amsterdam 1071 ZJ Netherlands +31 (0)20 673 0877 |
If you've ever been to Gaudi's park in Barcelona, you may find the interior of this restaurant slightly familiar. There are brightly colored walls, tiled floors, mosaic paneling, quirky chairs and rustic tables. Their delicious tapas include pata negra and a good selection of seafood and vegetarian options. Wash down your tapas with refreshing sangria or wine. Perfect for a family lunch or a dinner with friends, but make sure you're not pressed for time. Review © 2007, Wcities |
