Located on the second floor of a monumental premises, Evita is your classic steakhouse albeit with a sophisticated ambiance. The eclectic eatery borrows heavily from the South American and Spanish cuisine and consistently innovates on its gourmet delights. The assortment of charcoal grilled meat is delectable and so are the crunchy salads and the sinful desserts. The beef pepper steak is a hot favorite and the barbecued chicken gives it a tough fight. But the real puller here is the panoramic view of the city at night. Amongst the dime a dozen steakhouses mushrooming all over Amsterdam, Evita stands out for more reasons than one.

+31 (0)20 420 3910 This Brazilian/Argentinean steakhouse is definitely one for the carnivores among us. Iguazu offers a fine selection of traditional Brazilian and Argentinian dishes. A variety of fish dishes are available as well, along with a few respectable salads, but this is a typical South American restaurant: meat is definitely the specialty. Iguazu has a special tourist menu as well as surprise menus that are updated regularly-but don't take these as indicators of a lower-class restaurant. It's actually quite cozy and the meat is top-of-the-range. Sometimes you can even enjoy some live Latin music.

Local music played in the background combined with the original interiors of the brown pub, lend it an authentic Dutch ambiance. For starters one could try the "Smoked Eel On Toast" or the "Shrimp Cocktail". For the main course, there are a variety of steaks on offer, such as Beef Steaks, Calfsliver with Bacon and Onions, Filet of Pork with Ham and cheese. If you still have room for more, try out the Vanilla Ice Cream with Advocat.

+31 20 627 5660 The strangely christened Three Sisters Steak House is a popular hangout amongst locals and tourists alike, for its cheap and authentic steaks. After a stint with the beer or wine downstairs, head here for the almost perfect steaks, prime ribs and other grilled meat varieties. Even something as staid as an omelet looks tantalizing on the tables of this cramped but clean eatery. Don't forget to bite into the crispy fries with a dash of mayo and wrap up with a huge piece of chocolate cake. Three Sisters has another outlet at Leidseplein, which is as crowded and sought after.
