Tapas bar in the Jordaan |
Westerstraat 186 Amsterdam 1015 MR Netherlands +31 20 420 3959 http://www.channels.nl/amsterd... |
Alcantara is a Portuguese restaurant and tapas bar, located in the Jordaan. The building was originally a cinema, still recognizable because of the projection room above the entrance hall. Alcantara serves Portuguese dishes from the cuisine bourgeoise - a substantial cuisine with influences from Catalonia and France. The courses are spiced compared to traditional Portuguese cuisine, but are not particularly exotic. A wide variety of Portuguese drinks are also available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Wine and champagne bar |
Nes 37 Amsterdam 1012 Netherlands +31 (0)20 422 3318 http://www.bubblesandwines.com |
Just a short stroll from Amsterdam's Dam Square sits champagne and wine bar Bubbles & Wines. A state of the art nitrogen storage system prevents oxygen from compromising the integrity of opened wines, thus allowing the place to offer over 50 wines by the glass. All are available as tasters, half-glasses, and full glasses. Custom-tailored tasting flights are featured, as well as a tempting menu of caviars, cheese assortments, and other small plates. Eat, Drink and be Merry |
12 Egelantiersgracht Amsterdam, NH 1015 Netherlands +31 20 344 4560 |
This charming cafe in the De Jordaan district offers a wide range of drinks and food in a comfortable setting. The interior is dark and roomy (by Amsterdam's standards), with several tables and bar stools arranged on a checkered floor. There is also space on a floating platform outside that is ideal during nice weather. In addition to the wide selection of beers, wines, coffees, and teas, the cafe has a full menu of snacks. You can choose from soups, salads, sandwiches, or tapas-style plates to go with your drink. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lovely tapas bar |
Overtoom 50 Amsterdam 1054 HK Netherlands +31 20 689 4858 http://www.cafeebeling.com/ |
This bar, situated in an old bank building, is still slightly off the beaten track. But it is quite trendy and offers a different sort of experience from the average bar. The interior is furnished using a variety of homey accessories: a reading table, a small inner garden, loads of different places to sit and varied styles of chairs and tables, all done up in a very Mediterranean style. There's wi-fi internet available. Lots of color creates a warm atmosphere. Live music on Sunday afternoons makes this an even more tempting place to while the day away. The delicious tapas are richly featured on the menu. There are some excellent beers on tap, as well as a nice collection of bottled beers. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Rock on!! |
Nieuwe Doelenstraat 20-22 Amsterdam 1012 CP Netherlands +31 (0)20 625 5771 http://www.cafe-de-jaren.nl |
The chic interiors boast of mirrored walls and yes that is an advantage—it gives you a clear picture of your cute neighbor seated behind. High ceilings, brick red walls and drinks stacked right up give Jaren an ultra chic look. Try the Moroccan broodjes or select from the scrumptious salads from the salad bar. Do go for the Salade de Crabe—a much recommended salad of this cafe. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Grab a Mouth-full |
Looiersgracht 40b Amsterdam, NH 1016 VS Netherlands +34 20 638 1412 http://www.cafefestinalente.nl/ |
Festina Lente is a comfy hang-out when it's the middle of the day and your hunger demands something more than a breakfast but less than lunch. Lentini means tapas but the menu here serves food portions which more than satisfy one's appetite. One can have meat/fish, pasta, rice and combine them with one of the appetizers. Try the salads, soups or the potato dishes for a mixed variety of Spanish, Greek and traditional flavors. Save room for the lip-smacking desserts; the apple pie and brownies are a treat for the taste-buds. And if you ever have trouble deciding your meal look in the Rococo mirror and order the specials! A Spanish favourite |
Utrechtsestraat 124 Amsterdam 1017 VT Netherlands +31 (0)20 422 6250 http://pata-negra.restaurants.... |
This restaurant, specialising in traditional Spanish tapas, is a delightful addition to the Amsterdam scene and very popular amongst locals. The tiled walls and wooden interior create an authentically Spanish atmosphere. Tapas are excellent and surprisingly affordable. Iberian ham is not to be missed—it's probably the best in town. This place is always bustling, which may not make it an ideal place for an intimate dinner. If you're in the mood for a lively night out, this is the place to go. Review © 2007, Wcities |
