GRH/Atlanta has three Adult Mental Health Units comprising 124 beds and serving the 21 counties of metro Atlanta and northeast Georgia with a population of more than 4 million people. GRH/Atlanta has two Forensic Units comprising 90 beds to serve persons charged with a crime and sent to the hospital for evaluation before trial, and for treatment if found incompetent to stand trial, or not guilty by reason of insanity. It is a state sponsered psychiatric hospital exclusively. Services are provided to a limited catchment area and can be accessed by referral through the probate court, emergency referral for evaluation by police and certian mental health professionals, local emergency rooms and community mental health centers. There is no emergency services provided for illness or trauma, only psychiatric emergencies. Review © 2009, Wcities |
