Cattle Talk and Cocktails |
1600 Piedmont Road Atlanta, GA 30306 United States +1 404 874 3751 http://www.cowtippersatlanta.com/ |
This spirited Midtown roadhouse is supported by a largely gay clientèle, but welcomes all for some of the best prairie fare this side of the Rio Grande. Offering perfectly-rendered steaks, chops, ribs, chicken and barbecue, Cowtippers has garnered consistent awards since opening in 1993. Eclectic art and western artifacts adorn the walls of the rambling, 60-year-old building, while a Texas-sized patio tempts guests to park their plates outside. Be sure to sample the "Rita" menu, a listing of the bar's enormous and enormously-popular margarita concoctions. Review © 2009, Wcities |

One of the better nightclubs in Midtown, Halo offers a sleek, upscale atmosphere to its young and influential clientele. The interior focuses on glass, colors and clever designs for a fantastical, intimate feeling. The bartenders mix up a mean martini or any cocktail you can think of, including house specials, and offer a wide variety of premium liquors. The bar is located in the historic Biltmore, with a 6th Street entrance. Review © 2009, Wcities |

Get Down in Midtown |
931 Monroe Drive Atlanta, GA 30306 United States +1 404 876 0001 http://www.hoedownsatlanta.com/ |
You can't tell from the facade, but this unassuming tavern next to the Winn-Dixie supermarket hosts Atlanta's wildest country-western party every night. Catering to a predominantly gay clientèle, Hoedown's is pure country. With a long, old-fashioned wooden bar and ample space for line-dancing, this is a saloon right out of the Old West, and can get pretty rowdy as the night progresses. A few appetizers are available, as well as a sandwich menu on Sundays, but other than that, Hoedown's puts its focus on the party, not the food. Review © 2009, Wcities |

Lounge with a difference |
560-B Amsterdam Ave (in the Midtown Outlets) Atlanta, GA 30306 United States +1 404 875 6255 |
The purple banner hanging from the ceiling is only the first clue that the clientele of this pool hall is predominantly gay. Posted hours don't list closing times, so you can expect a long night at this sometimes-rowdy Midtown spot. The narrow room features a bar in the back and pool tables front and center, with tables arranged in the rear for casual dining. Miss Q's is mostly a billiards-and-beer sort of place, but it does maintain a menu of standard bar fare. No one younger than 21 allowed. Review © 2009, Wcities |

A room with a view |
736 Ponce de Leon Ave Atlanta, GA 30306 United States +1 404 874 9934 |
This trendy gay club is set right on Ponce, but it sits atop several other shops to command a nice view of the street and the downtown skyline. A square bar takes up much of the interior, and a large piano takes up even more. Ceiling fans and hanging ferns dangle overhead, and a street sign marks the area as "Liberace Lane." The best seat in the house, however, is on the wraparound front porch. The kitchen at the nearby Midtown Saloon & Grill provides kitchen service in the form of bar fare. Review © 2009, Wcities |
