Atlanta Diner

Breakfast all day
2071 North Druid Hills Rd
(near Buford Highway)
Atlanta, GA 30329
United States
+1 404 633 0024
Just off the North Druid Hills freeway exit sits this classic American diner in all its chrome-and-neon glory. Take a seat at a comfortable vinyl booth for a true old-time diner experience. This throwback eatery is known among locals for its homegrown specialties, such as meat loaf and mashed potatoes, as well as for its simple steak-and-onion platters and homemade milkshakes. You'll also find a surprising dose of Greek dishes scattered throughout the menu, and the fast-order cooks turn out a mean all-day breakfast. The diner also features a beer and wine list.

Sandy Springs Favorite
6125 Roswell Road
Atlanta, GA 30328

+1 404 843 8002
Serving the best food in its neighborhood, this low key joint has stood the test of time. The name is rather suggestive of the prevailing decor, both inside and out. A small bar is located in the corner of the simply adorned dining room. Nothing trendy, nothing fancy, the menu is as straightforward as the service. The fried shrimp is among the best in the city, lightly breaded and not too greasy. Other seafood specialties include a salmon and lobster bisque and a rotating variety of grilled and fried fish.

An evening at this trendy spot may reveal a celebrity or two, as well as some of Buckead's most dressed-up diners. Funky Art Deco decor spices up this glorified diner, with booths and sassy waitresses to match. The menu covers the basics, but pulls some creative twists. Try the famous homemade potato chips with Maytag bleu cheese dressing, or Atlanta's fanciest meatloaf, comprised of veal and wild mushrooms. A diner-style bar with swivel stools serves cocktails to Atlanta's chic and stylish as they endure the frequent wait for a table.

Competing with the big chains, this is a great local steak house offering (you guessed it) great steak at an affordable price. This restaurant is set up like a large Western roadhouse with high ceilings and lots of Western decorations. Although bordering on corny, it still retains that hearty steak house appeal. The steaks are large and expertly prepared. Baked potatoes and salads are available to round out your meal, as well as a few less beefy items. Great beer selections and a full bar are available.

This cafeteria-style Midtown eatery is easy to spot from the street; it closely resembles a white box. The atmosphere inside isn't much more extravagant, resembling a school lunch room, but the largely college-aged lunch and dinner crowds don't seem to mind. There's plenty to choose from as you fill your tray. Fresh meats, pastas and salads can be grilled or arranged to order, or choose from a wide range of vegetarian alternatives. Try the jerk chicken or cheese tortellini with marinara sauce. Beer and wine available.

This stark pastel building on Ponce stands out from its more timid neighbors, right on the border between Midtown and the Virginia-Highlands. Stucco and tile has replaced the traditional red-and-white tablecloths, to stunning effect. Ceiling fans spin over the brightly colored tiled dining room tables, while the patio is fitted with ornate, wrought iron chairs. The Vegetarian and meatball-laden specials are popular pizzas, while the calzones are a great choice for lunch. The White Pizza, with mozzarella and ricotta, is famous throughout Atlanta. Popular with locals with an eye on value, this Indian restaurant is sure to delight longtime lovers of curry as well as those who can't who have never even heard of it. The crowded cafeteria-style setting can sometimes get overwhelming, but the food more than makes up for the relative lack of decor. Vegetarian favorites occupy the lion's share of the menu, but don't come looking for gourmet presentation. The food is hot and simply-presented, and many patrons choose the takeout option. The vegetarian soup is always available, and a consistent favorite.

This small but airy place serves up cheap, authentic Mexican grub, although the low prices are not a good indicator of the quality of the food. In addition to traditional Mexican favorites, the menu integrates some Caribbean elements such as real black beans instead of their mushy refried relatives. Area students find the prices appealing and keep the place hopping. Willy's is also a favorite with kids, as they can pick from their own separate menu. Lunch and dinner shouldn't run more than $5 per person, and Mexican beer is available.

How do you like your wings? This popular Buckhead hangout offers at least 20 varieties, and always draws a crowd, so don't be surprised if you have to wait in line for a bucket of winged wonders. If you're with friends who don't share your winged infatuation, direct them to the healthy sandwich and sub menu on hand. Beer and wine is available for making a party out of your outing. Impromptu party? Never fear, delivery is available.
