When the hipsters come out to play in East Atlanta, this is where they meet up. Much clubbier than the quiet taverns typical of this neighborhood, the Eastside Lounge has carved out its own niche and attracted a following from all over Atlanta. A long bar flanks the left side of the dimly-lit lower room, while upstairs, patrons sit in the loft lounge and watch art house flicks projected on the wall. A limited menu is available during the dinner hour, but most don't show up here to eat. DJs live Monday through Saturday.

+1 404 688 8864 Housed in an old triangular building that forms the corner of Flat Shoals and Glenwood Avenues, this no-nonsense pub is a throwback to times when a bar was just that: a good place to get a drink. Rustic and proud of it, the Flatiron consists of a single room, which faces the roads that form the intersection at the door. A handsome bar is surrounded by numerous tables, and a generally quiet crowd gathers most evenings. The menu is limited to burgers, sandwiches and salads. Brunch is served on Su until 3:30p.

+1 404 523 8900 The neon sign on the corner announces Grant Central with all the subtlety of an old time theater marquee. Inside, you'll find East Atlanta's most complete pizzeria crowded most hours of the day. The enormous single room is open to the kitchen, with booths and tables against rustic exposed brick walls displaying eclectic art. Pizzas like the Cardiac Arrest (featuring pepperoni, spicy sausage, meatballs, ham, and extra cheese) made Grant Central famous, but the menu has expanded over the years. Subs, salads, and a few vegetarian items round out your selections.
