Athens Pizza House

Greek Specialties & Pizza
1341 Clairmont Road
Atlanta, GA 30033
United States
+1 404 636 1100
http://www.athenspizzaatlanta....
Located near Emory University, this is a longtime favorite of the hungry college crowd. Unassuming and friendly, this family-run restaurant is home to great pizza and even better Greek specialties. Diner booths and plastic tables are the stage for some great pizza, but the Greek entrees steal the show. The gyros are huge and filled with hearty portions of juicy rotisserie lamb. Moussaka and other Greek favorites are available as well. The pizza is stacked high with toppings, and the ultra-sweet baklava adds a perfect ending to any meal. .

It's Greek to You
2985 Grandview Avenue
Atlanta, GA 30305
United States

Situated among some of the finest ethnic restaurants in the city, Basil's holds its own with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern specialties. A comfortable dining room dominates the interior of the restaurant, but the finest amenity is the dining area on the back patio. The changing menu offers many Greek, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern entrees. Some of the names may be familiar but the preparations are original and often surprising. An ample selection of wines is available from the fully stocked bar.

Hidden within the Plantation Heights Shops, its quaint surroundings make the food seem all the more appealing as fresh salads and bread are spread across the table. Grappa

Romantic spot
3097 Maple Drive
Atlanta, GA 30305
United States
+1 404 262 9749
This upscale Mediterranean restaurant in the Maple Drive area offers a fine dining experience that has few equals in the city. Located within a lavishly renovated house, the dining rooms are slightly small, but quirky and charming in their individuality. A patio is available for cocktails. The food changes seasonally, but the soups are always a hit. Chef and owner Lynne Gigliotti's various lamb dishes are very well regarded, and the seafood, when available, is spectacular. The wine list also varies from time to time, and is very good.

Sugo

Mediterranean treat
408 South Atlanta Street
Clocktower Place
Atlanta, GA 30075
United States
+1 770 641 9131
http://www.sugorestaurant.com/
Voted among Atlanta Magazine's top ten new restaurants, this Mediterranean restaurant seems to have floored the critics. According to Atlanta magazine, "You don't know what over the top means until you have eaten in this delightfully off center Mediterranean restaurant." The dreamy décor and the generous servings of food ensure a continuous inflow of guests. The menu is essentially Mediterranean with Greek, Italian and Spanish influences. Take your pick from the tapas, Mediterranean specialties or just pick your favorite pizza. Wash it down with a glass of wine from the exquisite wine list.

Taverna Plaka

Once there was a Tavern...
2196 Cheshire Bridge Road North East
Atlanta, GA 30324
United States
+1 404 636 2284
http://www.tavernaplakaatlanta...
With Mediterranean and Middle Eastern music in the background, this Greek restaurant makes you shake your belly. Like all parties this one also starts after sunset; by 7p the belly dancers come out; by 10p the party really picks up with the place converting into a nightclub. The drink and wine list is equally exhausting; it's long enough to entice Dionysus back to earth. So if you're looking for a quiet dinner come earlier, but if the idea is to rock, then this restaurant will welcome you with its open Greek heart.

Overlooking the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport runway, the Downwind Restaurant offers a fun and affordable place to take the family or grab lunch before a flight. Airplane memorabilia and large windows looking out over the runways set the stage for an exciting meal. Planes take off and land often at this moderately busy regional airport, offering a good show while you dine. The menu is simple, featuring burgers, sandwiches and salads, along with some Greek favorites.
