Atlanta Bread Company

Whole Grains in Buckhead
6000 North Terminal Parkway
(Suite 371)
Atlanta, GA 30320
United States
+1 404 766 8345

This terrific upscale cafe concept is a welcome addition to the Atlanta dining scene. Come for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a tasty pick-me-up. Patrons split themselves just about evenly between sit-down and take-out orders, but the dining area is pleasant, if also somewhat simply decorated. The restaurant offers hot entrees like quiches, pot pies, soups and designer pizzas in addition to delicious breads, pastries and desserts. The lunch soup menu is extensive, and the salads, sandwiches and fruit plates are popular.

Reminiscent of a Parisian cafe, this busy, well-appointed uptown bakery and cafe offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Voted "Atlanta's Best Breads and Pastries," the Buckhead Bread Company offerings are wonderful. Few can resist the warm, French baguettes made daily, or the extravagant array of dessert delicacies. A nice menu of sandwiches and salads are also available in the very casual dining area, as well as boxed meals for picnics. Catering service is available. No alcohol is served.

Chaplin's Restaurant and Bar

Killer Karaoke
555 South Atlanta Street
Atlanta, GA 30075
United States
+1 770 642 6981
http://www.chaplinsroswell.com
A local favorite since 1988, this Roswell stronghold has good food, a super house brew and friendly servers. Fun and "picnic table" casual, the large heated deck is in high demand by families and singles alike during fair weather. If you're the musical type, stop by for sing along karaoke on Saturday nights with the house DJ, or catch the big game on Chaplin's giant big-screen. All-American choices dominate the menu, like ribeye and New York strip steaks, fried shrimp and charbroiled grouper, and plenty of munchies. It also offers a full bar service. See website for full menu and karaoke competition information and photos.

The Atlanta branch of this growing national franchise is known for great food, but also for big crowds and long waits. The restaurant is big and airy, done up in terra-cotta with art deco accents. Come early or stand in line for the Cheesecake Factory's many culinary delights, which include American, Tex-Mex, Thai and Italian selections. The Firecracker Salmon Roll and shepherd's pie are consistent favorites, and the renowned breakfast menu is available all day. Of course, you'll want to try the cheesecake, too, which comes in nearly 100 varieties.

Eats

Midtown's Best Box Lunches
600 Ponce de Leon Ave
Atlanta, GA 30308
United States
+1 404 888 9149
This cafeteria-style Midtown eatery is easy to spot from the street; it closely resembles a white box. The atmosphere inside isn't much more extravagant, resembling a school lunch room, but the largely college-aged lunch and dinner crowds don't seem to mind. There's plenty to choose from as you fill your tray. Fresh meats, pastas and salads can be grilled or arranged to order, or choose from a wide range of vegetarian alternatives. Try the jerk chicken or cheese tortellini with marinara sauce. Beer and wine available.

Whether Elvis gyrates or Madonna vamps on the screen overhead, the overwhelming musical theme at this popular restaurant is balanced by an interesting and filling mix of menu items. With choices ranging from large-portion nachos to Southern servings of pot roast surrounded by garlic mashed potatoes, you won't leave hungry. The wait staff, disguised in 1950s-style garb, brings a sense of fun to every table. Watch closely as you peruse the gift shop on your way out: you just might see an actual celebrity.

International House of Pancakes - Northside

More than just flapjacks
2741 Clairmont Road
Atlanta, GA 30329
United States
+1 404 633 1889
http://www.ihop.com
This popular chain serves breakfast 24 hours a day, but don't let the name fool you. An exhaustive menu includes all your typical American dinner favorites. Rather akin to a Denny's, IHOP is a nice step up from the Waffle Houses that seem to haunt every highway exit in the South. The food is reliable, fast, and pretty good. Most entrees range from $5-8, including hearty dinner platters, a great burger, sandwich and salad selection, and more breakfast options than you can shake a stick at. No alcohol.

Cheap Eats
2337 Peachtree Road Northeast
Atlanta, GA 30305
United States
+1 404 233 9244
This Buckhead joint provides filling Mexican fare at reasonable prices, making it a very popular lunch spot for the working set and a great family dinner choice. Lively background music sets the scene for a festive dining room, where south-of-the-border decor prevails. The tortillas are made from scratch, and are routinely filled with beef, chicken, and some more exotic combinations. Icy beer and an adequate selection of wine is available.

This airy late night cafe offers a casual respite for those with midnight hunger pangs. Just look for the pastel-colored suit of armor on the roof. The patio garden provides a somewhat exotic setting where patrons sample the healthy menu in the company of live parrots and cockatoos. The menu is heavily vegetarian, and includes many vegan-friendly selections. Smoothies and other health drinks are also popular with the regulars. Smoking, while infrequent, is permitted, and beer and wine is available.

Late-night Latte
553 Amsterdam Avenue
(in the Midtown Outlets)
Atlanta, GA 30306
United States
+1 404 874 7828
http://www.redlightcafe.com
This cafe is a good Midtown spot for a late-night coffee or an after-dinner drink. The warehouse ambiance comes into its full neglected glory here, with exposed pipes overhead and ragged tables to rest your elbows on. A few well-picked oil paintings line the walls for that extra artsy feel. A small stage near the door spotlights local musicians in styles ranging from folk to bluegrass to jazz. A limited menu is available, along with a full-service bar in the back. Great coffee and drinks are served, as well as some wine.

Savage Pizza

Slices at easy prices
484 Moreland Avenue
Atlanta, GA 30307
United States
+1 404 523 0500
http://www.savagepizza.com
Just what you'd expect in a University town, pizza with style. The servers boast tattoos and various piercings, which suits this colorful, artistic pizzeria in the heart of Little Five Points. The oil painting of James Dean is an interesting addition to the brightly-painted dining area, and the loud rock music completes an ambiance you won't find at any Pizza Hut. Pies cost about $10. Veggie lovers should try the white on white, a monstrous feast of multiple cheeses. Beer and wine served, inside and on the small patio.

1895 Piedmont Avenue Northeast
(near Cheshire Bridge Road)
Atlanta, GA 30324
United States
+1 404 874 6152
http://www.tacocabana.com
This festive all-Mexican eatery seats about 100 (indoor or out), but still gets pretty crowded during weekend meal hours. In fact, it's especially popular with the younger crowd because the prices are incredibly set for the budget-minded. Breakfast, lunch or dinner will only set you back about $5. Taco Cabana has your Mexican fix covered, whatever your preference. Don't miss the enormous enchilada menu, which has more varieties than you can imagine. Beer and wine only. See website for menus and other locations.

The Flying Biscuit

Breakfast Bonanza
1655 McClendon Avenue
(near Clifton Road)
Atlanta, GA 30307
United States
+1 404 687 8888
http://www.flyingbiscuit.com
Tucked away from the traffic of Little Five Points, this homey spot is easily missed, but not by locals. Crowds line the sidewalk on weekend mornings for omelets, pancakes and, of course, the signature biscuits. Dinners are less famous, but feature Southern goodies such as Dixie meatloaf and many vegetarian offerings. The cozy storefront is arranged into two rambling rooms with mismatched chairs and peculiar wall murals, but you'll feel right at home, especially when the biscuits arrive. If you want a glass of wine with your meal, bring it along.

Small Suburban Sushi Spot
2086-B Cobb Parkway
Atlanta, GA 30080
United States
+1 770 933 8808
http://www.umezono.us
This sushi spot is gaining in popularity, just about as fast as sushi is becoming an American standard. Umezono is an unassuming, intimate Japanese restaurant with seating for a mere 40 patrons. The best spot in the house is at the sushi bar, where guests watch the chef roll out pretty pickings. Beer and wine is available, and there is smoking in designated areas. If you want to take lunch or dinner home, grab a menu and go.
