Party Hearty |
5840 Roswell Road NE Atlanta, GA 30328 United States +1 404 255 7571 http://www.american-pie.com |
When you see the giant tropical deck fringed with palm trees, you're in the right place. Opened in 1986 as a neighborhood restaurant, this fun tavern has expanded over the years into a 3,500-square-foot beach party, as well as one of Atlanta's most visited nightspots. Lunch and dinner options include chicken wings and burgers, and the place is known for its key lime pie. Billiards, video games and many televisions are provided, as is live entertainment on most weekend night. Review © 2009, Wcities |

The big Buckhead blarney |
3035 Peachtree Road (Buckhead Avenue) Atlanta, GA 30305 United States +1 404 841 0066 http://www.fadoirishpub.com/ |
This is an upscale Irish pub with plenty of atmosphere. Opened in 1996, much of the furniture, masonry and decor were imported from Ireland. Fado even sells Irish collectibles and sponsors Atlanta's local Gaelic football team. The menu includes Irish Oak Smoked Salmon, Guinness Battered Fish and Chips, and the exotic chicken or salmon boxtys (stuffed potato pancakes). Irish breakfasts of eggs, sausage, rashers and black and white puddings are served all day. Plenty of Guinness and Harp sold on draft, as well as fine Irish whiskeys. Review © 2009, Wcities |

Rock the Menu |
215 Peachtree St Atlanta, GA 30303 United States +1 404 688 7625 http://www.hardrock.com |
Whether Elvis gyrates or Madonna vamps on the screen overhead, the overwhelming musical theme at this popular restaurant is balanced by an interesting and filling mix of menu items. With choices ranging from large-portion nachos to Southern servings of pot roast surrounded by garlic mashed potatoes, you won't leave hungry. The wait staff, disguised in 1950s-style garb, brings a sense of fun to every table. Watch closely as you peruse the gift shop on your way out: you just might see an actual celebrity. More than just flapjacks |
2741 Clairmont Road Atlanta, GA 30329 United States +1 404 633 1889 http://www.ihop.com |
This popular chain serves breakfast 24 hours a day, but don't let the name fool you. An exhaustive menu includes all your typical American dinner favorites. Rather akin to a Denny's, IHOP is a nice step up from the Waffle Houses that seem to haunt every highway exit in the South. The food is reliable, fast, and pretty good. Most entrees range from $5-8, including hearty dinner platters, a great burger, sandwich and salad selection, and more breakfast options than you can shake a stick at. No alcohol. Elvis' Favorite Donut |
295 Ponce de Leon Avenue Atlanta, GA 30308 United States +1 404 876 7307 http://www.krispykreme.com |
Elvis Presley was far from alone in his lust for Krispy Kreme. Since 1937, this donut-maker has peddled its deep-fried delights all over the Southeast. The white walls and old-time counter-style interior are frequent landmarks throughout Atlanta, but this Midtown location is one of the oldest. The traditional Krispy Kreme is a deep-fried puffy affair, simple white batter glazed heavily with sugar. Look for the red light atop the sign when driving by, which means a fresh, hot batch is ready. See website for donut menu, online gift shop, and locations throughout North America. Greasy Spoons Since 1929 |
1031 Ponce de Leon Ave Atlanta, GA 30306 United States +1 404 875 0276 |
This white-tiled, quintessentially American diner has been in constant operation since 1929, and it serves up a down-home menu 24-hours a day. The long counter in front faces Ponce de Leon Avenue and backs up on the kitchen, where your order will appear hot off the grill. Pick a stool up front or slide into a booth along the sidewalk picture window. The Majestic is known best for its generous breakfast menu, and there's no better place to clog your arteries first thing in the morning. Try the meatloaf plate if you're the adventurous type. Just Like You Remember |
306 Cobb Parkway Atlanta, GA 30062 United States +1 770 423 9390 |
This family restaurant is the kind of diner you remember from the old days. Highlighted in pink and blue, all the classical decor lines are intact. Breakfast and lunch are given over mostly to families and seniors, who linger over their meals the way diner denizens are supposed to. A decent selection of steaks, chops, seafood, and dinner entrees are available, but most opt for the simpler diner fare that dominates the menu. Try the French toast with sausage or bacon with coffee, tea, or juice. Review © 2009, Wcities |

Open All Night |
1812 Peachtree Road Atlanta, GA 30309 United States +1 404 872 2942 http://rthomasdeluxegrill.com |
This airy late night cafe offers a casual respite for those with midnight hunger pangs. Just look for the pastel-colored suit of armor on the roof. The patio garden provides a somewhat exotic setting where patrons sample the healthy menu in the company of live parrots and cockatoos. The menu is heavily vegetarian, and includes many vegan-friendly selections. Smoothies and other health drinks are also popular with the regulars. Smoking, while infrequent, is permitted, and beer and wine is available. Review © 2009, Wcities |

Late-night Latte |
553 Amsterdam Avenue (in the Midtown Outlets) Atlanta, GA 30306 United States +1 404 874 7828 http://www.redlightcafe.com |
This cafe is a good Midtown spot for a late-night coffee or an after-dinner drink. The warehouse ambiance comes into its full neglected glory here, with exposed pipes overhead and ragged tables to rest your elbows on. A few well-picked oil paintings line the walls for that extra artsy feel. A small stage near the door spotlights local musicians in styles ranging from folk to bluegrass to jazz. A limited menu is available, along with a full-service bar in the back. Great coffee and drinks are served, as well as some wine. Review © 2009, Wcities |

A Relaxed Atmosphere |
4051-A Buford Highway NE (near Dresden Avenue) Atlanta, GA 30345 United States +1 404 634 2419 |
With such traditional favorites as Mekong chicken, this hidden treasure is very popular with Atlanta's Vietnamese community. The first thing you'll notice is the Vietnamese clientele, chattering, socializing and often competing in lengthy card games. The setting seems as authentic as the menu, with small tables arranged beneath simple decorations from the old country. A few recipes have been Americanized, however, to suit folks with more local tastes. Review © 2009, Wcities |

Bring the Kids |
1895 Piedmont Avenue Northeast (near Cheshire Bridge Road) Atlanta, GA 30324 United States +1 404 874 6152 http://www.tacocabana.com |
This festive all-Mexican eatery seats about 100 (indoor or out), but still gets pretty crowded during weekend meal hours. In fact, it's especially popular with the younger crowd because the prices are incredibly set for the budget-minded. Breakfast, lunch or dinner will only set you back about $5. Taco Cabana has your Mexican fix covered, whatever your preference. Don't miss the enormous enchilada menu, which has more varieties than you can imagine. Beer and wine only. See website for menus and other locations. Review © 2009, Wcities |
