For several years running, Bajarito's burritos have been voted "Best in Atlanta," and for good reason. Although not long on fancy decor, this place offers every imaginable burrito concoction. Choices include the Thai curry peanut chicken burrito, the grilled Mediterranean eggplant burrito and the Blackened Salmon with garlic mashed potatoes burrito. Other, more traditional Mexican items are on the menu, too, but most patrons can't resist the temptation to create their own culinary specialty. Beer and wine available.

Cafe Jalapeno's

Fun Mexican
2520 Piedmont Road
Atlanta, GA 30324
United States
+1 404 237 0500
Located across from the Lindbergh MARTA station, Jalapeno's is often one of the busiest restaurants in the city. The typical cantina decor is fun and a little cheesy, while the patio offers open air dining, although it can get a little noisy with all the traffic on Piedmont. The Mexican standards here are prepared well and without any fuss. Situated squarely between Midtown and Buckhead, this is a great spot for a business lunch with the co-workers. Jalapeno's has a full menu of Mexican beers and of course, margaritas.

1409-D North Highland Avenue
Atlanta, GA 30306

+1 404 874 1343
This is a great find in the north Virginia-Highlands for the serious lover of authentic Mexican. The dining area features cantina decor and tables barely large enough to support the generous platters. Atlanta's extended outdoor season, as well as a burrito as big as a rolled-up newspaper, ensure the back deck is never a lonely place to be. A pair of dueling bars in the front of the restaurant dish out a full line of south-of-the-border brews and frozen concoctions.

An Atlanta standby, El Azteca has brought affordable and great-tasting Mexican to Atlanta for years. The decor favors most Mexican restaurants, with booths, tables, and a large bar. Outside, the expansive patio is pleasant during fair weather, but can get a little noxious during rush hour as commuters come off nearby GA 400. The great platters are a sure bet, offering mountains of everything from tacos and enchiladas to cheese-laden refried beans and rice. In the heart of Little Five Points, El Myr Burrito Lounge combines the funkiest of local, eclectic style with darn good burritos. Little more than a hole in the wall, the dim bar on the right doubles as a late-night hangout, and the dining room is cramped but friendly. If there were a mole (avocado dip) contest in town, Zocalo would win it, hands down. This in-town spot has caught on with the trendy urbanites, largely due to the menu of appealing and creative Mexican dishes and terrific margaritas. Join your friends al fresco under the festive covered patio to watch the comings and goings of this busy Midtown neighborhood, or retire to the open-aired barn-like dining room. Lively and often loud, this is upscale dining that somehow forgot the pretension.
