Situated among some of the finest ethnic restaurants in the city, Basil's holds its own with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern specialties. A comfortable dining room dominates the interior of the restaurant, but the finest amenity is the dining area on the back patio. The changing menu offers many Greek, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern entrees. Some of the names may be familiar but the preparations are original and often surprising. An ample selection of wines is available from the fully stocked bar.

MacHu Picchu

Peruvian Cuisine
3375 Buford Highway NE
Suite 1130
Atlanta, GA 30329
United States
+1 404 370 3226
Offering great Peruvian food at affordable prices, Machu Picchu is a nice break in the solid chain of Asian restaurants on Buford Highway. The dining room will put you in the mindset of a trip to the lofty Andes. The atmosphere's a bit dark, but this lends to the exotic feel. The all-Peruvian menu boasts several interesting seafood combinations such as spicy shellfish with rice. Be prepared to experiment, but always order some rice, because it is a fragrant variation on the rice used in the cuisine of other cultures.

Mirage

Persian pleasures

Offering all the best of the Med, this is a consistent winner when you're looking for something different. The dim interior lends a mystical mood to your exotic dining experience. The spirit of old Persia lives on in this classic Old World bistro. An impressive showing of Mediterranean favorites is headed up by kabobs of every variety: beef, lamb, chicken, and seafood. Try the khoreshts, stews brewed from traditional recipes, then move on to the barreh kabob, which features a skewer of charbroiled cubes of lamb, marinated with special seasonings.

Nicola's Restaurant

An Atlanta institution for more than 15 years, Nicola's is the city's premier destination for authentic Lebanese and Middle Eastern food. Set in a small house, Nicola's fosters a family type atmosphere. The inside is modestly decorated and simply appointed, which along with the friendly wait staff contributes to the homey feel. Traditional Lebanese favorites such as tabouleh are expertly prepared, and the hummus is recognized as being among the best in the city. For a very satisfying entree, try the sautéed lamb.

Olive Bistro

Olive Bistro
650 Ponce de Leon Avenue
Suite 680A
Atlanta, GA 30308
United States
+1 404 874 5336
http://www.olivebistro.com/
From the street, it's hard to tell that this little storefront might be the best place for Middle Eastern food in town. Small and rather spartan, the busy kitchen stirs up a surprising variety of your favorite exotic dishes. A small, loosely decorated inside dining area is greatly expanded during pleasant weather when you can take your lunch outside. Regularly voted as the 'Best Falafel in Atlanta,' the Bistro sticks religiously to its traditional Middle Eastern roots. For a quick snack or as part of your dinner, order the uncommonly smooth humus.
