Belly General Store

Not Your Average Store
772 North Highland Avenue
Atlanta, GA 30306
United States
+1 404 872 1003
http://www.bellystore.com
You've never been to a store like Belly General Store – or maybe you have. Dedicated to preserving the memory of the historic Fleeman's Pharmacy, an Atlanta institution, this store is a unique twist on the general stores of old, complete with the long wooden sliding ladder behind the counter. Instead of selling gigantic bulk bags of flour or sugar, they sell arguably the city's best cupcakes and bagels. And that's not all. Large wooden armories are stocked with everything from licorice, soap, cookies, and pasta. Everything sold at Belly's is unique, made without preservatives or additives. Patrons are invited to enjoy their goodies on one of the three wooden picnic tables.

Crystal Dolphin

Nature shop with a global view
780 North Highland Avenue
Atlanta, GA 30306
United States
+1 404 892 3880
A smoky, spicy aroma welcomes visitors to this quirky shop in the Highlands. Eccentric owner Jorge Castillo enjoys, and sells, perhaps the best sampling of incense in town. Almost more museum than store, the Crystal Dolphin derived its name from the amazing selection of arts and crafts that feature—you guessed it—dolphins. Pick one out for the porpoise lover on your list or browse through the endless array of jewelry, crystals and fine art.

Shop owner Terri Hill has put together a stylish gift-giver's paradise. Treat yourself to one of the many lotions or bath salts or pick up a one-of-a-kind candle holder (along with a one-of-a-kind candle). For the serious lover of vintage clothing, head to the rear of the store. The collection of wild styles leans fancifully back toward the 1930s and beyond. Complete the vintage ensemble with a piece of period or artisan jewelry, and let the flapping begin.
