This rustic spot was named for the 150-year-old sycamore tree that overhangs the veranda. The 1836 white clapboard hotel was built in the Charleston town home style, and served as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War. The dining room is quaint, but the best seat in the house is on the veranda, under the lazy sweep of the namesake sycamore. Good old-fashioned Southern cooking and hospitality are mainstays here, and the menu is lined with favorites like crab cakes with lemon-dill cream sauce and fried chicken salad. Full bar service.
