Cin Cin |
99 Quay Street (Ferry Building) Auckland 1001 New Zealand +64 (0)9 307 6966 http://www.cincin.co.nz/ |
Superbly renovated and refashioned, this is one of the oldest established restaurants in the city, yet still one of the most popular. Set in the historic Ferry Building and overlooking the water, Cin Cin has high ceilings, granite, and luxurious table settings. There is a strong emphasis on the sea, with Italian and Asian flavors through pasta, risotto and noodles. Wood-fired pizzas are thrown in for good measure. The wine list is extensive. Gourmet pizza place |
262 Ponsonby Road Ponsonby Auckland 1001 New Zealand +64 (0)9 360 1113 |
GPK is a restaurant, bar and cafe successfully rolled into one. A small cosy lounge at the rear of the bar has a fireplace and the timber theme is carried throughout tables, chairs and pavement seating. The menu is Pacific Rim and the food is always superbly presented. Pizzas from the wood-fired oven are exotic--the popular Bombay Pizza is chicken marinated in Indian spices, with red onions, cashews, banana, yoghurt, coriander and mango chutney. GPK is fully licensed, but does not take reservations. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Authentic Italian cuisine |
209 Symonds Street Auckland 1001 New Zealand +64 (0)9 302 2061 http://www.ginas.co.nz/ |
Gina's Pizza & Pasta Bar is a gem, nestled deep in the heart of Symonds Street. It is a cheery, well-priced Italian restaurant, big on both, taste and style. Owner Gina is an Italian-born, affable host, and the tastes of her pastas and pizzas are truly authentic and simply delicious. Gina's has the traditional Italian restaurant décor - red and white check tablecloths and photo's covering the walls. A little off the beaten track, customers seem to be regulars, or those who have heard of it by word of mouth. All expect and receive friendly service, great food and excellent prices. Freydo and his team have been busily producing genuine, tasty Italian food for a regular and enthusiastic crowd for years now. The décor is informal and rustic in style, solid timber tables and chairs lend character. You can also sit at pavement tables under the green-striped awning. Try the Braciole Ubriache pork chops with brandy, Marsala and fennel seed; or the Pollo Rosso chicken with tomatoes and a touch of cream. All mains are served with potatoes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A genuine Italian experience awaits you at La Luna, with well prepared Italian food, a well designed but relaxed environment, gentle music and a competent staff. The menu makes a mouth-watering read--from an antipasto platter, to steamed green-lipped mussels served in a chilli tomato sauce followed by pasta dishes, such as tortellini al prosciutto--tortellini with cheese, Parma ham, mushrooms and cream. Nobody goes hungry here |
51 Tamaki Drive Mission Bay Auckland 1005 New Zealand +64 9 528 3797 |
Located in the heart of Mission Bay, with lovely views of the waterfront and Rangitoto Island, Mamma Mia was established in 1972, long before the Eastern Bays became a well-patronised dining area. A further distinguishing feature is that the same Italian owner continues to run the restaurant. This is a small, intimate, friendly restaurant popular with couples out for a quiet dinner, through to family groups and young people. Al fresco dining is available in warmer weather. Typical and affordable Italian fare is offered including pizzas, pasta and meat dishes. The restaurant is licensed. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Located in the quiet suburb of Kohimarama, about 10 minutes drive from central Auckland, this small, intimate Italian place offers superb cooking and a relaxed and homely atmosphere. Try the Calamari Fritti tossed in garlic, lemon and parsley sauce. Do try Involtini alla Romana--veal stuffed with cream cheese, ham and spices and topped with wine and mushroom sauce. There are just a few desserts--as an alternative, end your meal with one of Mamma Rosa's special coffees. Review © 2007, Wcities |

259 Parnell Road Parnell Auckland 1001 New Zealand +64 (0)9 379 5358 http://www.nonsolopizza.co.nz |
Located in the heart of Parnell Village, Non Solo Pizza combines the traditional with the contemporary. The large restaurant seats 90, and a further 80 in the brick courtyard. Displays of preserved vegetables and fresh bread, the wood-fired pizza oven and the marble fireplace, lend character. The menu is sumptuous and extensive from antipasti to Fritto Misto di Mare-a selection of squid, prawn, fish and octopus to a wood-fired oven pizza, such as Al Sapore di Mare with shellfish, baby octopus, calamari, prawns, chilli, garlic, oregano and rocket. There is an extensive wine and beverage list. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Brothers Gino and Kiro began the chain of Portofino Italian restaurants several years ago. The decor of Portofino Parnell is smart but minimalist, with dark wood paneling. Diners include businesspeople and families, as well as couples tucked away in romantic corner spots. As well as pasta dishes the menu features delicacies such as Veal Marsala, Pollo Parmigiana, Bistecca Diana as well as calamari, prawns and mussels served as either entrees or mains. All Portofino Restaurants are fully licensed. Review © 2007, Wcities |
