Enjoy spectacular views of Rangitoto Island from the Takapuna branch of Daikoku--the Japanese God who provides delicious food. The restaurant is popular for business lunches, and group and family dinners. The chef entertains while cooking at your table. There is Teppan steak, Teppan scallops, and the Seafood Combination dish has crayfish, scallops and squid. Daikoku is fully licensed and also offers al fresco dining.

+64 9 373 2138 Tony's has been serving up its famous steaks since 1968 so they must be doing something right. Antique stoneware jugs line the windows, dark wood panelling covers the walls. The cosy dining room looks out onto a quiet, leafy square. The fare is steak, steak, steak - all export quality, all aged. Have a sirloin and blue cheese, or perhaps the carpet-bagger of eye fillet stuffed with fresh oysters. Tony's is licensed and the wine list is fairly standard, with plenty of good options to accompany a juicy steak.

+64 (0)9 353 7595 This Brazilian-style eatery is operated by one of Auckland's longest established restaurateurs. The centrepiece of the dining room and of the menu, has to be the copper-clad kitchen with its enormous, flaming, roasting spits. Patterned banquettes look out to the harbour, a beautiful stone wall runs down one side. You come here for the Churrasco, an "all you can eat" meat eater's delight. Perfectly seared beef, lamb, chicken, pork and seafood is sliced off the skewers straight onto your plate at NZD39.50 for adults, NZD19.50 for children. Wildfire also serves pasta, soup, pizza and tapas-style platters.
