It is the ideal place to browse in peace, amongst the attractively displayed books. The relaxed shopping centre of Takapuna is only 15 minutes from the central city.

An American bookstore, Borders is a Mecca for sophisticated book lovers. The Auckland store has four floors with a phenomenal range of books, music, video/DVD and a café for relaxing between browses. Lifts and escalators connect the various levels. Plenty of helpful staff hover to help you locate what you are looking for. There are also computers throughout the store for customer reference. There are banks of headphones for listening to the CDs. On the Queen Street entry you will also find magazines, calendars and greeting cards.

Special reference books for children are available, as well as a New Zealand section. There is a playpen, which is handy if you want to browse in peace. Shore City Galleria is a spacious and popular shopping centre in Takapuna, the largest retail centre on the Shore. It is identified as a principal centre for fashion clothing with many well known labels available. There are of course plenty of other shops here too such as shoes, pharmacy, homewares, hardware, music, gifts, and a Farmers department store attached. What is not inside the Galleria will doubtless be outside nearby in the street. The new food court on the lower floor is attractively laid out and offers a great range of food types for substantial and inexpensive meals and snacks, or just coffee. A large carpark beside the Galleria has direct enclosed access into the shopping center.
