One of the strengths of this department store is that it specializes in home furnishings and accessories, appliances and manchester - thereby not spreading itself too thin. Located next to Rebel Sport, across the free carpark from Waitakere Plaza, and a one-minute walk to WestCity Shopping Centre - this is the place to go for everything for the inside of your home. Briscoes often has good sales and specials, and the well-set out stores make it a pleasant place to shop. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Mostly Well-Priced Clothing |
151 Arthur Street Onehunga Auckland New Zealand +64 (0)9 622 2400 |
Dressmart is the original factory outlet shopping mall, first opened in 1995, and growing ever since. Genuine savings in all sorts of shopping can be had here, especially for popular brands of fashion clothing, shoes, books, music, home wares and accessories. Shops are located conveniently under one roof, and several cafes allow for much needed respite from dropping while shopping. There is a free shuttle transport service available (within NZ only). There are also money machine facilities, plenty of free car parking, and an atmosphere of relaxed but business-like bargain hunting. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Family shopping at its best |
230-242 Queen Street Auckland 1001 New Zealand +64 (0)9 379 9103 http://www.farmers.co.nz |
While the Queen Street store stocks mainly men's and women's clothing, the larger suburban branches are of department store scale and as such Farmers has been a New Zealand institution since 1909. They are big on clothing and furniture, with good selections of appliances and home entertainment equipment. They have their own credit card, cleaning services, and sponsor the annual Santa Parade. The staff are informed and helpful. There are also three each of Farmers Home Centres and Farmers Home Stores--which specialize in home furnishings. Review © 2007, Wcities |

25 Newington Road Henderson Auckland New Zealand +64 (0)9 837 3720 |
This Australian retailer has been in New Zealand since 1988 and has three Auckland stores. The Henderson branch was the first, and is in Waitakere Plaza, next to Foodtown and one minute from the WestCity Shopping Center. Kmart has a broad range of stock: apparel, music, computer software, household goods, toys, sports equipment, gardening supplies, stationery, and fashion accessories. Lay-by is a popular option for many customers. Each store has it is own photo processing department also-one hour on request. The store is well set out with a friendly helpful staff. Ample free parking is available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Odds and ends emporium |
543 Blockhouse Bay Road Blockhouse Bay Auckland New Zealand +64 (0)9 627 0085 |
This self-described "smallest department store in the world" is more of an emporium, and it seems to have a little bit of everything. Part of the Blockhouse Bay township, 20 minutes from Auckland city, it is close to a number of other shops including a post office, a hardware store, and banks. It stocks tools, toys and games, a good selection of luggage, and a lot of other odds and ends. Well worth a look. Review © 2007, Wcities |

South Auckland mall |
Manukau City Centre Manukau Auckland 1702 New Zealand +64 (0)9 978 5300 |
There are more than 100 stores here, as well as a food court. The centre is divided into South, North, and West Malls, and a West Plaza. A Foodtown supermarket is in the South Mall, and a Farmers department store in the North. The food court is in the Eastern area. The central area has a mezzanine floor, where a few businesses and the library operate, and a huge stained glass window. There are plenty of ATM's, public transport, and free parking. The southern motorway and Rainbow's End amusement park are in very close proximity. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Two floors of specialty shops in historic arcade |
Queen & Customs Sts Auckland 1001 New Zealand +64 (0)9 358 1777 |
Queen's Arcade is a delightful piece of old Auckland history. It has fashioned itself into an interesting collection of specialist boutique shops. Here you will find Decor Cakes, The Pipe Centre, The Ballet Barre, War Souvenirs, King of Cards (cards and comics), Birkenstock Shoes, Homeworks (haberdashery and handcraft supplies) and Upstairs Antiques, to name a few. The Arcade has been elegantly refurbished. Early wrought-iron roof trusses and glazed roofing allow light to filter downwards over the interior. Patio Licensed Cafe looks out over Queen Street. There are a couple of coffee bars at the other end of the arcade. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Well-priced clothing and accessories |
184-198 Karangahape Road Auckland 1001 New Zealand +64 (0)9 377 8309 |
Despite being long regarded as a "granny shop", Rendells has managed to change that reputation somewhat. They mainly sell inexpensive clothing--for all ages and, contrary to popular belief, for both sexes. They also have beauty products, fashion accessories, and some household goods. The stores are well set out and stocked, and the shop assistants are very helpful. Additional Branches: Downtown Shopping Centre +64 (0)9 377 5686; Henderson +64 (0)9 837 2396; New Lynn +64 (0)9 827 3179; Panmure +64 (0)9 527 6478; Papakura +64 (0)9 298 1790; Takapuna +64 (0)9 489 4027. Major fashion and food hall |
Corner of Lake Road & Anzac Street Takapuna Auckland 1309 New Zealand |
Shore City Galleria is a spacious and popular shopping centre in Takapuna, the largest retail centre on the Shore. It is identified as a principal centre for fashion clothing with many well known labels available. There are of course plenty of other shops here too such as shoes, pharmacy, homewares, hardware, music, gifts, and a Farmers department store attached. What is not inside the Galleria will doubtless be outside nearby in the street. The new food court on the lower floor is attractively laid out and offers a great range of food types for substantial and inexpensive meals and snacks, or just coffee. A large carpark beside the Galleria has direct enclosed access into the shopping center. Review © 2007, Wcities |

253-261 Queen Street Auckland 1000 New Zealand +64 9 377 4770 http://www.smithandcaugheys.co... |
Smith and Caughey is Auckland's oldest established department store. Quality is the word for their goods, ambience and service. Expect to pay a little extra for the privilege. There are clothing departments for women, men and children; lingerie; shoes; perfumery and cosmetics; fine china; home wares; gifts and more. The cafeteria upstairs serves light snacks and substantial meals. There is a traditional hairdresser for gentlemen in-store. The most comfortable rest rooms in Auckland are found here. Now you can shop at Smith and Caughey on-line. In particular a wide range of gift boxes and hampers are available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Colonial-styled shopping arcade |
Northcroft Street and Huron Street Takapuna Auckland 1309 New Zealand +64 (0)9 486 8670 |
Takapuna Village is a small-scale modern colonial-style shopping precinct with meandering alleyways and courtyards between the various buildings. These days most of the main level premises are Asian food outlets, both shops, including a butchery, vegetables, grocery and bakery; and restaurants including Korean, Japanese food and sushi, and Ko's Dumplings, which is especially popular. There is also a cafe; and The Jungle Bar--a licensed bar and eating house. Cadenza Music shops are on the ground level underneath. Review © 2007, Wcities |
