Lake Travis' Fun on the Water |
5973, Hiline Road Austin, TX 78734 United States +1 512 266 1683 http://www.cncaustin.com/ |
This sun and fun restaurant is located right on the water for all those Lake Travis visitors looking for good food, drinks, and live music. Parking is widely available on both land and water and their Tex-Mex cuisine and margaritas are widely popular. They are known for their "no shirt, no shoes, no problem" mentality and they are a great stop for those spending the day out on the water. If their live music and laid-back mentality is not enough, patrons can come enjoy the sunset over the water that has brought that extra added flavor to this Austin favorite. -Nicholas Van Zandt Review © 2007, Wcities |

Southern comfort food |
8106, Brodie Lane Austin, TX 78745 United States +1 512 282 2586 http://www.evangelinecafe.com/ |
Evangeline's Cafe gets its name from a Longfellow poem and you're forgiven if you're surprised. True, the stuffed animals and neon beer signs don't say Longfellow but diners don't come here expecting a romantic setting for two either. It's for the food and the live music. The kitchen at Evangeline's holds its own in the cajun and creole department, the signature dishes being the gumbo and the crawfish, both with ample meat and cheese. The cafe features new acts every night and the dancing is sure to help you burn some calories. Ignore the no frills impression that you get when you first walk into Evangeline's Cafe and you're guaranteed to have a good time. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Classy venue |
7701 Bee Caves Rd Austin, TX 78746 United States +1 512 330 9500 http://www.oneworldtheatre.org |
This auditorium has a 300-seat capacity and fills a gap in the local arts scene for a smaller, elegant venue for music, dance and theatre performances. State-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, a mezzanine and a raised stage mean that every seat is a good one. It's part of the Barton Creek Arts Center, an entire complex dedicated to the arts, education and environment. Located on a hillside overlooking picturesque tree canopies and streams, it's about ten minutes from downtown. The theater is the brainchild of One World, a local non-profit arts organization. Midnight movie madness! |
2700 W Anderson Lane Alamo Drafthouse Village Austin, TX 78757 United States +1 512 476 1320 http://www.rockyhorror.com/ |
Austin has a long-running history with this particular movie. As the second city to release the show in 1976, it has had a continuous run of over 25 years. At the Alamo Drathouse Cinema, every Saturday night brings a costumed cast to perform live with the film. This cult classic only gets better when the audience participation segments arise. Rice, toast, toilet paper and other sundries are sold as props for the patrons to throw at appropriate moments. If you forget to bring your bag of tricks, these props can be purchased in the lobby for USD2. Casual attire is fine, but a wild fashion statement is certainly encouraged. Admission is USD5. The Real Austin Blues Scene |
1413, Webberville Road Austin, TX 78721 United States +1 512 926 2200 |
T.C.'s Lounge is one of the few remaining landmarks of the Austin music scene that has yet to succumb to the expansive growth of the city. This bar has been a long revered hot-spot for local blues musicians and music lovers. They have brought in famous local bands such as the Leghounds, which has helped to increase their popularity. They are a beer only bar but do offer set-ups to those patrons who wish to bring their own liquor. If looking for a uniquely cultural experience in the Austin blues scene, then T.C.'s Lounge is certainly the place for you. -Nicholas Van Zandt Review © 2007, Wcities |
