A step away from the beaten path, Draught House Pub & Brewery an excellent German beer garden provides a welcome relief from downtown's Sixth Street. The European pub atmosphere and exhaustive selection of imported drafts make this bar a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The seating is excellent with high-backed wooden seats and very thick wooden tables. Come visit on Wednesday for pitcher night with free pizza or on Saturday with free bratwurst.

Dry Creek Saloon

Lake Austin's Favorite Dive Bar
4812, Mt Bonnell Road
Austin, TX 78731
United States
+1 512 453-9244
The Dry Creek Saloon is one of Austin's older and less well-known watering holes. It is a beer-only bar and they don't take credit cards so remember to stop at an ATM before you arrive. Upstairs on the deck, patrons can catch some afternoon sun while, on occasion, enjoying some live music. While a serious dive bar at first glance, Dry Creek has become a favorite for those looking for a laid back happy-hour experience. -Nicholas Van Zandt

One of Austin's most crowded bars on the weekends. Fado pronounced (Fuh-DOH) translates to "long ago" in Celtic. The bar contains everything from Celtic designs to polished wood blocks and glass cabinets. If you can find a table grab it and watch the crowd meander around the bar, which is centered in the middle, or head outside to the small patio with its own bar and enjoy a Guinness. Handicapped parking is available behind the pub, in the alley.

With occasional live music, a great jukebox, pool tables, darts and over 80 draft beers to choose from, it is no wonder this is a popular hangout. Enjoy the atmosphere inside this pub setting with couches and comfortable table gatherings. During cooler months, the outdoor patio is a wonderful place to gather with friends and try the great variety of beers offered here.

This bar provides multi-level entertainment. The ground floor offers live cover-band music; passers-by can look in and see people dancing to the hits. If dancing is not your thing, sneak next door for a beer in the adjoining beer hall, or head upstairs to the more-than-ample patio overlooking the Sixth street crowd. Maggie's is famous in Austin for their motto T-shirt: "Beer. It's not just for breakfast anymore."

Opened in 1866, this bar has become a mecca for every Texas governor and quite a number of other people. This is Texas's oldest beer garden; it now provides an extensive menu of traditional bratwurst and sauerkraut as well as barbecue favorites. As is tradition, the bar is a favorite during, before and after the University of Texas Longhorn games. Even if there is not a game, this is still one of the best places to sit back and enjoy a cold beer.

T.C.'s Lounge

The Real Austin Blues Scene
1413, Webberville Road
Austin, TX 78721
United States
+1 512 926 2200
T.C.'s Lounge is one of the few remaining landmarks of the Austin music scene that has yet to succumb to the expansive growth of the city. This bar has been a long revered hot-spot for local blues musicians and music lovers. They have brought in famous local bands such as the Leghounds, which has helped to increase their popularity. They are a beer only bar but do offer set-ups to those patrons who wish to bring their own liquor. If looking for a uniquely cultural experience in the Austin blues scene, then T.C.'s Lounge is certainly the place for you. -Nicholas Van Zandt

This is one of the prized possessions of North Austin; a true Texan spot to wine and dine. It has a very casual ambience, where you can get together with your near and dear ones. There is a non-smoking area. Beer lovers will rejoice with the vast list.
