219, West 4th Street Austin, TX 78701 United States +1 512 474 2194 http://www.219west.com/ |
219 West is a posh downtown bar with Euro-Manhattan flair, sharp taste buds and a keen eye for interior design. The restaurant/bar opens weekdays for lunch to serve American tapas, open faced sandwiches, soups, salads and mini burgers. After five, 219 West turns down the lights and turns up the music to offer moderately priced cocktails and appetizers. Pick your meal based on the alcohol with which it's paired – Spicy Cheese Fries on The Beer Menu, Grilled Asparagus with Lump Crab on The Martini Menu, Turkey Fajitas on The Tequila Menu, etc. You won't go hungry…or thirsty…at 219 West. Lake Travis' Fun on the Water |
5973, Hiline Road Austin, TX 78734 United States +1 512 266 1683 http://www.cncaustin.com/ |
This sun and fun restaurant is located right on the water for all those Lake Travis visitors looking for good food, drinks, and live music. Parking is widely available on both land and water and their Tex-Mex cuisine and margaritas are widely popular. They are known for their "no shirt, no shoes, no problem" mentality and they are a great stop for those spending the day out on the water. If their live music and laid-back mentality is not enough, patrons can come enjoy the sunset over the water that has brought that extra added flavor to this Austin favorite. -Nicholas Van Zandt Review © 2007, Wcities |

Outside, sophisticated, cigars |
208 W 4th St Austin, TX 78757 United States +1 512 495 9669 http://www.cedarstreetaustin.com |
This is an intimate outdoor venue with a pleasant courtyard feel. Live jazz music is played nightly to a sophisticated crowd. The martinis are a definite must, and there is also an excellent cigar selection to choose from inside. This is a great place to sit under the oak trees and enjoy the breeze while watching some of Austin's best dancers dance up front. Better yet, why not join in? Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cold Brews In SoCo |
1123, South Congress Avenue Austin, TX 78704 United States +1 512 448 9181 http://www.docsaustin.com/ |
Doc's Motorworks is a locally-owned restaurant in a converted auto mechanic shop with the most impressive patio in Austin's see-or-be-scene South Congress District. Parking can be difficult in this popular section of downtown, but once you're settled on Doc's temperature-controlled patio, you can relax with a batch of onion rings and a cold draft beer. The casual restaurant is part sports bar, part grill. The restaurant offers moderate prices, daily happy hour deals and weekly food and drink specials. Try the burger and fries with a $2 pint, or a tasty Tex-Mex platter with a Giant Margarita. Doc's is open late and always busy. Mid-afternoon is your best shot for speedy service. Jazz/swing/rockabilly club |
618 W 6th St Austin, TX 78701 United States +1 512 479 8848 http://www.momosclub.com |
Austin's Top of the Marc was a well-known and loved club, above the ever-popular Katz's Deli, that served the harder drinks. Then suddenly, it changed its look and name practically overnight. There's a great stage for swing, jazz and rockabilly bands of all sizes to play on, with a dance floor perfect for large groups. One half of the bar is a patio to sit out and enjoy a warm Austin night. The inside of the bar is dark, with black walls and a grey, stone floor. The dress code seems to be a step above casual, but it's Austin, so really, anything goes. Domestic and imported beer is available. Try a margarita from the machine or enjoy Happy Hour, which starts at 5p. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Upscale jazz club |
300 Colorado St Austin, TX 78701 United States +1 512 495 6504 http://www.sullivansteakhouse.... |
Located next door to the fabulous steak house Sullivan's, this high-class jazz club has all the fixin's for a fabulous evening. Live music and a full service bar are only the beginning of the amenities offered at this establishment. This place is where one goes to see and be seen. Prices reflect the pocketbooks that walk through the door. Part of the draw is the ambiance, the other is the selection. The wines from around the world and scotch that can only be found in Scotland are favorites of the regulars. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hip, classy bar with dancefloor |
217 E 6th St Austin, TX 78701 United States +1 512 472 1916 |
One of the classiest bars on Sixth Street, this longer rather than wider bar lets you sit and gaze at passers-by or fellow patrons. The lighting is extremely attractive, generating a genuine New York feel. You will enjoy sitting in one of the high-arched cushioned booths and catching glances of fellow patrons from the mirrored walls. The bar has an excellent music selection. If it is not too busy, play a round of pool or head upstairs to the dance floor. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Upscale dance club |
611 Red River St Austin, TX 78701 United States +1 512 472 4272 |
This hot spot has been voted best dance club and best new nightclub by the Austin Nightclub and Bar Association. An in-house DJ spins records throughout the week as the music pumps out into the street, enticing patrons to step inside. The large interior is elegant with chandeliers and dark, polished wood everywhere. It caters to a dressier crowd than most downtown bars. The full bar specializes in all versions of the martini, from classic to creative, and offers frequent drink specials. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Classy place with steaks and jazz |
300 Colorado St Suite 200 Austin, TX 78701 United States +1 512 495 6504 http://www.sullivansteakhouse.... |
This premiere bar and restaurant located in the Warehouse district is by far a first choice for one of the best steaks available in Austin. Besides a great steak, they host live jazz in their New York-style jazz bar. Bring a date and sit around one of the many cozy tables or up front right below the elevated band. If you just want to grab a top-shelf cocktail, head over to the separate bar and enjoy. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Silences Your Roaring Appetite |
701 Congress Avenue (Stephen F. Austin Hotel Inter-Continental) Austin, TX 78701 United States +512 583 0000 http://www.roaringforkaustin.c... |
This local favorite doesn't disappoint even the hungriest cowboy. Southwest favorites offered in huge portions are served with a bevy of libations to boot. Think saloon atmosphere with bistro fare, but don't be fooled, the food packs a big punch. Try the Green Chile Mac and Cheese or their ever-so-juicy 22oz Bone-In Ribeye, to make you remember why you love Texas cooking. Locals can't get enough of the Oven Baked Kettle of Green Chile Pork Stew, Yee-Haw! The mood here is just as lively as the food, thanks to tasty drinks like the Roaring Margaritas and their kickin' Happy Hour specials. Review © 2007, Wcities |

High energy, dark |
318 E 5th St Austin, TX 78741 United States +1 512 477 1641 |
A bright-red ball of fire with the club's name posted in the core of the inferno stands out like a sore thumb through the dark alley between Fifth and Sixth streets. That is where you enter this dark dance club, often crowded with young, energetic college kids. Wednesday night is High Energy House night, with DJ's spinning tracks in battles over who has the best breaks and trance grooves. Thursday night features a live, local rock band. Ages eighteen and over are allowed on both nights. Retro night lands on any given Friday and can often be crowded. There are pool tables to play on while listening to the impressive sound system.
