Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - Village

Food, Movies & Beer
2700 W. Anderson Lane
Austin, TX 78757
United States
+1 512 476 1320
http://www.drafthouse.com
Who among us hasn't always wanted to enjoy a cold beer at the movies? Here, you can. In fact, you will find a nice selection of both domestic and imported beers, as well as wines and champagnes. The libations help you wash down the tasty pizzas, chicken wings or cheese- and salsa-smothered nachos as you take in a flick. Children at least 6 years of age can accompany their parents; patrons must ordinarily be at least 18 to attend on their own. The theater features mostly independent films. See website for showtimes, ticketing info, menus, special event calendar, merchandise and more.

Barfly's

Jukebox and geniality
5420, Airport Blvd.
Austin, TX 78751
United States
+1 512 452 6455
Serving as a rare hipster oasis in an area that's otherwise uniformly rustic (a restaurant specializing in chicken giblets sits nearby), Barfly's brings in the scenesters by way of youthful camaraderie, a revered, genre-bending jukebox, and some of the most genial bartenders for miles around. Inside, the bar is dark, dank, and loud, but all in a good way, whereas the lower backyard area - accessible by staircase and dotted with picnic tables - is better equipped for mingling among strangers. And though the available beer selection does cover all the bases, this is by and large a liquor bar. -Barrett Brown

Billy's on Burnet

Be yourself
2105 Hancock Drive
Austin, TX 78756
United States
+1 512 407 9305
http://www.billysonburnet.com/
Billy's on Burnet is your around the corner friendly neighborhood beer and burger hangout. A place to kick back, let your hair down and sip the local brews which go great with the chicken wings and fries. That doesn't mean that the food here is worth a pass. Billy's on Burnet are partial to burgers, with the Ends and the Schults being named after a local band and their lead singer(no clue about Reuben the sandwich). The daily lunch specials have regular names like meatballs and meatloaf, but standing out is The Vegetarian. Amongst the fans, the football freaks and the kind who love their laptop, even those standing out blend in well. That's Billy's for you.

Desperado's

Tejano boot-scooting
9515 North Lamar Blvd
Suite 200
Austin, TX 78758
United States
+1 512 834 2640
http://www.desperadosaustin.com/
Not all of the finer dance-spots are located on or near Sixth Street. This Tejano-style nightclub features a cavernous dance floor, $1.50 longneck beers on most nights (only 50 cents on Wednesdays), and 75-cent margaritas, to lubricate a good mood before and after the workout you will get amongst the dancers. The bucking bronco on the logo outside pretty much tells you what to expect. Leave your tuxedo at home, dress casually, and show up expecting to have a laid-back good time.

Dry Creek Saloon

Lake Austin's Favorite Dive Bar
4812, Mt Bonnell Road
Austin, TX 78731
United States
+1 512 453-9244
The Dry Creek Saloon is one of Austin's older and less well-known watering holes. It is a beer-only bar and they don't take credit cards so remember to stop at an ATM before you arrive. Upstairs on the deck, patrons can catch some afternoon sun while, on occasion, enjoying some live music. While a serious dive bar at first glance, Dry Creek has become a favorite for those looking for a laid back happy-hour experience. -Nicholas Van Zandt

Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon

Country Style
5434 Burnet Road
Austin, TX 78756
United States
+1 512 458 1813
Operational for over a decade, Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon has earned the reputation for being the city's country-music stop. It's not your usual nightclub with thumping music; but is a great place for drinks and good music. It hosts live musical performances every Thursday - Billy Dee & Redd Volkaert, Justin TreviƱo and Dale Watson have kept this place alive on several occasions. So stop by for a memorable night at this simple place, which not surprisingly, has a cult following.

While a bit of a dive, this North Austin neighborhood bar certainly has character. The comfortable seating and atmosphere make for a fun and relaxing time. Holiday lights and decorations are up year round, it has gained a reputation as both an unpretentious place to unwind and a haven for those in the know who are looking to get away from the downtown scene. Certain well-known film directors have been known to frequent the bar while in town. Expect no-nonsense service from the full-bar, with pool tables and a jukebox that offers many offbeat and retro selections.

It is the all American menu of sausages, sandwiches, rolls, sizzler's and steaks not to forget the healthy salad menu here. They are all priced moderately and the live band ruckus just adds the right amount of spice to your evenings. Draught and bottled beer are available too.
