Come For The Cute Clientele |
617 East 7th Street Austin, TX 78701 United States +1 512 391 1943 http://www.beautybar.com/ |
Beauty Bar takes its name from the '60s hair salon knick-knacks that come into play within each of its dozen or so locations, but the moniker might as well refer to the chain's simple methodology for success. By cultivating a particularly girlish (and thus locally rare) atmosphere, it manages to bring in the prettiest twenty-somethings in town, who in turn bring in everyone else to the extent that, by the end of the night, the place is packed in a way rarely seen elsewhere in Austin. When the resident DJ isn't spinning early Michael Jackson, music comes care of some of the city's more up-and-coming rock bands. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lake Travis' Fun on the Water |
5973, Hiline Road Austin, TX 78734 United States +1 512 266 1683 http://www.cncaustin.com/ |
This sun and fun restaurant is located right on the water for all those Lake Travis visitors looking for good food, drinks, and live music. Parking is widely available on both land and water and their Tex-Mex cuisine and margaritas are widely popular. They are known for their "no shirt, no shoes, no problem" mentality and they are a great stop for those spending the day out on the water. If their live music and laid-back mentality is not enough, patrons can come enjoy the sunset over the water that has brought that extra added flavor to this Austin favorite. -Nicholas Van Zandt Review © 2007, Wcities |

Country Style |
5434 Burnet Road Austin, TX 78756 United States +1 512 458 1813 |
Operational for over a decade, Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon has earned the reputation for being the city's country-music stop. It's not your usual nightclub with thumping music; but is a great place for drinks and good music. It hosts live musical performances every Thursday - Billy Dee & Redd Volkaert, Justin TreviƱo and Dale Watson have kept this place alive on several occasions. So stop by for a memorable night at this simple place, which not surprisingly, has a cult following. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Where the Misfits rock to Misfits |
404, East 6th Street Austin, TX 78701 United States +1 512 472 3663 http://www.jackalopeaustin.com |
No other bar in recent memory has managed to so monopolize the patronage of Austin's tattoos-and-piercings crowd than has Jackalope, which caters to the unsubtle sensibilities of its otherwise neglected customer base by way of Reagan-era punk rock on the stereo, tragi-comic b-movies on the TVs, and velvet paintings of topless women on the walls. Aside from serving as Sixth Street's most prominent de facto refugee camp for Black Flag fans, Jackalope is otherwise known for its burgers, regarded by many denizens of the downtown area as the best in the neighborhood – and the Wednesday two-for-one burger deals make these the best bargains in the city. Silences Your Roaring Appetite |
701 Congress Avenue (Stephen F. Austin Hotel Inter-Continental) Austin, TX 78701 United States +512 583 0000 http://www.roaringforkaustin.c... |
This local favorite doesn't disappoint even the hungriest cowboy. Southwest favorites offered in huge portions are served with a bevy of libations to boot. Think saloon atmosphere with bistro fare, but don't be fooled, the food packs a big punch. Try the Green Chile Mac and Cheese or their ever-so-juicy 22oz Bone-In Ribeye, to make you remember why you love Texas cooking. Locals can't get enough of the Oven Baked Kettle of Green Chile Pork Stew, Yee-Haw! The mood here is just as lively as the food, thanks to tasty drinks like the Roaring Margaritas and their kickin' Happy Hour specials. Review © 2007, Wcities |
