The remodeled Jean Luc's Bistro is now the Athenian Grill. Serving lunch (cafeteria style, ordering a la carte will take longer) and dinner, the restaurant has everything one would expect of a Greek grill. The mezze platter is well populated, with dolmades, spanakopita and tiropita and the lamb preparations are always a good choice. The entrées come with bread and salad. It does not have much to offer in terms of a wine list, apart from the Makedonikos Tsantali. The Athenian Grill serves an assortment of desserts. The one problem in Austin is the lack of immigrant Italians and fine authentic Italian cuisine. The Bellagio has taken care of both. It may be in a strip mall of sorts, but don't be fooled. Step into the spacious restaurant; a look at the elegant art and sculpture that fill the interior would tell you that Bellagio is definitely upscale. Try the risotto or the calamari Bellagio, accompanied by a host of wines and you'll know you're in Little Italy. The Happy Hour at Bellagio has appetizers at half the normal price, but why taste just the icing when you can have the whole cake? Review © 2007, Wcities |
