Have you always wanted to enjoy a cold beer at the movies? You can here. In fact, you will find a nice selection of both domestic and imported beers, as well as wines and champagnes. The libations help you wash down the tasty pizzas, chicken wings or cheese- and salsa-smothered nachos as you take in a flick. Children at least 6 years of age can accompany their parents; patrons must ordinarily be at least 18 to attend on their own. The theater features mostly independent films. Comfort food for all ages |
4800 Burnet Road, C-300 Austin, TX 78756 United States +1 512 454 7827 http://www.bluestarcafeteria.com/ |
If you're used to a traditional cafeteria setting, be advised, things work differently at Blue Star Cafeteria. Branding themselves as a cafeteria with a twist, Blue Star serves what they call "uptown comfort food", and you don't have to stand in line holding a tray. Expect chicken fried quail, pork chops (glazed with honey), Crunchy Cod(with home made horseradish and mash potatoes)—you get the drift. The Blue Star's excellent kids menu features macaroni and cheese, pizza and other munch kin favorites. If wine is your hobby, sign up for the wine tasting(once a month), and if that's over committing, it's best to settle with a Chilean wine at the Happy Hour. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Casual restaurant |
4001 North Lamar Blvd Austin, TX 78756 United States +1 512 206 1000 http://www.centralmarket.com/c... |
Whether it's a quick lunch or leisurely dinner on the deck, this cafe goes way beyond expectations for a grocery-store eatery. As Central Market is no ordinary grocery store, so Cafe on the Run is no pedestrian deli. Soups, salads and sandwiches are all executed with creative flair; for instance, the roast beef sandwich is dressed up with Brie, and the turkey with Havarti. Ingredients are fresh, and most of them are available at the adjacent grocery. And if you don't want to exercise your sweet tooth, stay away from the bakery case. The Creme Brulee and Italian Cream Cake will tempt you every time. Review © 2007, Wcities |

10225 Research Blvd Ste 1010 Austin, TX 78759 United States +1 512 345 9586 http://www.jasonsdeli.com/ |
This clean, bright place is a comfortable stop for a quick meal. The sandwiches are full of flavor, the baked potatoes are huge and the salad bar is the freshest in town. A personal favorite is a one-trip salad bar and half a Plain Jane baked potato. It is just enough to put a smile on your face, but not enough to make you want to go back to your desk and sleep for the rest of the workday. This deli is consistently good and the service is well organized, so mistakes are few. Review © 2007, Wcities |

French country cafeteria |
9828 Great Hills Trail 620 183 & Great Hills Trail Austin, TX 78759 United States +1 512 502 2474 http://www.lamadeleine.com/ |
This restaurant is decorated as a French cafe in the countryside and the patriarchal owner of this chain really does hail from France. Many of the recipes come from owner Patrick Esquerre's mother's recipe box. The Tomato Basil Soup is a big favorite during fall and winter; use it to start a meal of quiche, Roasted Chicken, wood-fired pizzas or simply a Caesar Salad. Breakfast is also served daily, and includes both hot items and pastries, along with the restaurant's signature French Roast coffee. In desserts, try Ann's Cake, an Almond Croissant or a Pecan Tart. Home cooking round the clock |
2304 Lake Austin Boulevard Austin, TX 78703 United States +1 512 478 8645 http://www.cafemagnolia.com/ |
This is comfort food to please adults and children alike, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You will wait for a table, especially on weekends, but the wait only serves to sharpen the appetite for breakfast tacos and gingerbread pancakes, fajitas and burgers, grilled chicken and vegetarian entrees. The kid's menu is vast, offering burgers, black bean and chicken tacos and breakfast items. The atmosphere is relaxed and homey. A second location is on South Congress Avenue. Restaurant with Lake Travis View |
6550 Comanche Trail Austin, TX 78732 United States +1 512 266 2442 http://www.oasis-austin.com/ |
This sunset gazers' spot recently revamped its menu so that people would come here for the food. But even the best food cannot compete with the view. With tiered decks stair-stepped down the side of a 450-foot cliff overlooking Lake Travis, The Oasis has a table with a view for everyone. It is a magnet for tourists and locals alike. The menu is varied, split between Tex-Mex and traditional fare like prime rib ($18.95) and grilled salmon ($16.95). Frozen drinks are a specialty, but are expensive and even the soft drinks are $1.95. But who can quibble with prices when the sunset is so, well, priceless? Review © 2007, Wcities |

If Flash Fried Calamari, Jalapeno Corn Fritters, Big Fat Greek Salad, and New Orleans Po Boy sound interesting, you should check out the rest of the menu at the Rockfish Seafood Grill. This seafood chain has all the makings of a popular eatery - innovative and tasty food, informal decor, and good service. Key Lime Pie and Colossal Cheesecake are good dessert choices. Apart from beer and wines, beverages include PinaColada, Rock-a-Rita and Strawberry Daiquiri. All-in-all a fun place to eat, and truly a haven for seafood aficionados. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The place to meet over coffee |
3339 Hancock Drive (@ Balcones) Austin, TX 78731 United States +1 512 419 7877 http://www.russellsbakery.com/... |
When this restaurant was forced to move from its previous location, the surrounding neighborhood got a petition together to keep the bakery. In the new location at Hancock Drive and Balcones Road, the small, family-owned bakery and coffee shop has a new clientèle that is becoming increasingly loyal everyday. From the cinnamon rolls to scones, Russell himself bakes everything on the premises, and the freshly brewed Anderson's Coffee is delicious. The Breve is especially tasty and sure to give you the wake-up call you need on your way to work. With its eclectic selection of tables and chairs, Russell's is a great place to meet for work or pleasure. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Vamos a la cantina |
1206, West 38th Street Austin, TX 78705 United States +1 512 419 7482 http://www.santaritacantina.com |
In Texas, you're bound to bump into Tex-Mex eateries at every corner. Santa Rita Tex-Mex Cantina is one the many, and it's just as good. Jalapeno Wings, Quesadillas and Crispy Flautas, they have them all, with the meats roasted on a rotisserie. Don't worry about bringing children here; the kids meal option offers choices between enchilada, quesadilla or the favorites, taco and burger. If the spice gets to you, firefight with the margaritas or martinis and ice teas for the kids. The Cantina also sells t-shirts and gift certificates. Santa Rita Tex-Mex Cantina has Happy Hours throughout the week and it's great if you want to speed the 2 martini limit! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Casual restaurant with great patio |
1624 Barton Springs Road Austin, TX 78704 United States +1 512 474 9991 http://www.theshadygrove.com/ |
Sit at a patio table under the huge oaks and you will discover why this spot is called Shady Grove. One of the best patios ever created is reason enough to stop by, and the consistently tasty, crowd-pleasing food is a great bonus. Happy hour is offered Monday through Friday 4pm to 7p. A menu standard is the Hippie Sandwich, a concoction of sautéed vegetables, cheese and a sub-style roll. Add a chicken breast and you have got the Hippie Chick. Kids love the chicken fingers and the burgers are great, too. Plus, this place has personality - just check out the bathroom (housed in an old Airstream trailer). Review © 2007, Wcities |

Mexican greatness |
1224 South Congress Avenue Austin, TX 78704 United States +1 512 444 7770 |
In a space leased from The Austin Motel is some of the best Mexican food in the city; certainly the best Mexican breakfast. Huevos rancheros, Migas (even a variation with mushrooms), breakfast tacos. Need we say more? The Posole, a chicken soup with a masa broth, is heavenly; it is only available on weekends. Enchiladas and tacos can also be had, as well as Central American specialties. A large patio beckons on fine days, and the inside dining space is cool, light and comfortable, with a sun-moon-and-stars mural on the floor and overhead. Relax in the morning with a coffee and a taco, and at night (on weekends) with a bottle of beer and some mole poblano. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lots of food for a small price |
4412 Medical Parkway Austin, TX 78756 United States +1 512 467 8533 |
A favorite of the locals on Saturday mornings, this tiny family-owned business is bursting with people willing to wait in a line that extends out the front door for a simple breakfast taco. But their food is anything but simple. The Taco Shack breakfast specialty, the Shack Taco ($1.75), is filled with eggs, potatoes, cheese and chorizos' just bursting with flavor. Although they can certainly prepare a basic breakfast taco with your choice of fillings, try the Burnet Road Burrito ($2.95) if you are extra hungry and want something to fill you up. For lunch, try the Shack Lunch Special ($3.85). No matter what you order, you will not be disappointed. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Thai food with personality |
3009 Guadalupe St Austin, TX 78705 United States +1 512 474 2575 |
If spice is what you are looking for, this is the place. Thai Kitchen is one of the best places in Austin to liven up your taste buds with some unusual ethnic fare. The extensive menu denotes the degree of spice in each dish (fried curry rice to vermicelli stir-frys) and the four-pepper dishes will have you drinking more water than usual. Highly recommended, the Ba Mi Num soup, made with chicken broth, ginger, cilantro, lime, bean sprouts and your choice of meat, is a pleasant way to cure the sniffles. And although the wait staff seems a little gruff at times, it may be because the place is so packed, but do not let that stop you. This is a great place for anyone seeking a nice, hot bowl of something tasty. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Comfort food, slick setting |
3801 North Capital of Texas Hwy Davenport Village Shopping Center Austin, TX 78746 United States +1 512 347 1000 http://www.thistlecafe.com |
What started as simply a brunch and lunch spot, with takeout on the side, has branched out to become a viable dinner alternative. The relaxed surroundings during the day are spruced up with white linens at night, signaling a change in menu and attitude. When you visit, you will smell the scrumptious baked goods as soon as you open the door. Menu items include such Austin brunch favorites as migas and breakfast tacos, and more refined fare such as salads and pastas. The tortilla soup has a distinctive flavor, and the chocolate meringue pie is not to be missed. This is a popular spot, so expect to wait during peak times, such as weekends. Review © 2007, Wcities |
