Despite its name, this is a full-scale restaurant offers more than just coffee. The menu happens to be one of the most extensive in town and covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast includes an assortment of American favorites as well as soft tacos. Lunch and dinner offer everything from salads, soups and sandwiches, two vegetarian entrees, burgers and pasta - with the Tomatillo Crawfish Pasta at $9.45 - an excellent choice. Fresh-baked desserts are also available, as is a selection of beer and wine. Customers can keep it casual inside or on the patio while dining in this wooden frame house. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Wake up & smell the coffee |
1501 South 1st Street Austin, TX 78705 United States +1 512 416 1601 http://www.bouldincreek.com/ |
If you think that this coffeehouse serves only coffee and breakfast, then you're wrong. Boulder Creek serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but the menu here is strictly vegetarian. Stuffed Bouldin House Omelet and Homey Aaric's Baked Oatmeal are the specialties here. For drinks, try the Chai(tea) Latte and the Honey Lemonade. Leslie Martin, the owner offers the best multi-cultural menu at reasonable prices. Parking facility is available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Comfortable coffeehouse |
5011 Duval St Austin, TX 78751 United States +1 512 458 4472 |
More aptly named when the airport used to be in the vicinity and airplanes would fly directly overhead, Flightpath continues to be a charming, though quieter, neighborhood coffee spot. This area of town has a large student population, many of whom frequent this spot to study or to relax. The interior is very inviting with couches and interesting furniture. A small patio houses tables out front and on the side of the building. It neighbors a great thrift shop and an unusual art gallery—take a peek in those shops before you get too comfortable here. Kitschy espresso bar with a nature setting |
1601 Barton Springs Rd Austin, TX 78704 United States +1 512 480 8646 http://www.flipnotics.com |
Beatnik or hipster-style places such as this one aren't supposed to have a friendly, woodland view out in back, but this one does. Within its walls, one is swept away into the cute and amusing 1950s atmosphere; the antiqued robot dolls and general ambiance give you an idea of how the future was perceived a few decades ago. The espresso and various coffees are strong and flavorful, and at breakfast the usual items needed for a continental meal (muffins and pastries) are available. Vegetarian burgers and a variety of sandwiches round out the menu for lunches and dinners. The jazz playing on the jukebox makes it a cool experience. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Dig into the succulent sizzler's, salads, soups, barbecues; the wine list is endless and the menu includes both lunch and dinner. Located very conveniently near the Austin Bergstrum International Airport, climb those hills, it's worth it. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Located in the Hilton Hotel, this newcomer has a creative pastry chef that makes nibbles delicious with pumpkin cheesecake bars and Heath-sprinkled biscotti, or savory items such as pesto and Parmesan scones, sandwich wraps, and salads. Their coffee comes from Arabica beans produced exclusively for the cafe. If you want to socialize with the young locals of Austin and also enjoy some rich espresso, then Jo's is the place to be. The Marinated Chicken Breast is the specialty here, but most people gather here in the evenings for great coffee and some bird watching. The coffee drinks and sandwiches are yummy and Wheat Roast Vegetarian Barbecue is the best choice for all veggies. If you're lucky, you might find your favorite musicians sipping coffee here. Grab a Bite at Jo's |
242 W 2nd St Austin, TX 78701 United States +1 512 469 9003 http://www.joscoffee.com |
A longtime favorite on South Congress, Jo's opened a second location in the downtown area to join the ranks of the ever popular 2nd Street District. This casual coffee shop is bustling all day long, first with the morning crowd of caffeine addicts, followed by writers, grad students and WiFi worshipers, and finally, filling up in the evenings with friends gathering to grab a drink after work. The highlight of Jo's downtown locale is the spacious patio. Grab a seat at one of their high tables to nurse a beer or munch on a famous Jo's Chicken Burger. Jo's exemplifies Austin's easygoing disposition and would be a great stop for out-of-town guests and first-time visitors. - Sarah Murray Review © 2007, Wcities |

College coffee house |
2901A Medical Arts St Austin, TX 78705 United States +1 512 495 9299 |
Take Starbucks, lower the prices, throw some antique-yellow paint on the walls and you have got yourself another cozy place to perk up. It is nice to know that you can still get a Double Cappuccino for less than three bucks in this country, but the difference between this campus coffee house and its corporate competitor boils down to a few 1970s-style lime-green love seats. The coffee maintains a pleasing, medium strength. There are lots of fruit/energy drinks to choose from. The stone floor is polished and so clean you could eat off of it. The ever-popular Longhorn Po-Boys and Falafel shares rent space with this java house, creating two stores in one. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Located right in the center of everything, this coffeehouse is a popular place to hang out inside or at an outdoor table, enjoy a cup of fresh-roasted coffee, or grab a bite to eat. A variety of blends and nearly every type of coffee drink a caffeine addict could ask for are here, along with gourmet-quality sandwiches and lunch plates, most for less than USD6. The place is decidedly laid-back and attracts quite a range from professionals to more bohemian types. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Classic, small diner |
4811 Burnet Road Austin, TX 78756 United States +1 512 453 5062 |
Since 1978, this little, friendly diner refuses to die. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with a menu that will please the vegetarian as well as the carnivore. Sit at a wooden table, a booth, or a barstool on the white-and-black-checkered floor and taste the famous Gazpacho or vegetarian chili while waiting for your Avocado BLT. If you prefer morning grub like eggs, fries, pancakes and bacon homestyle, you have come to the right place. The Chili Con Queso Omelette is loaded with cheese and covered with jalapenos and even more cheese. Pancakes filled with blueberries, bananas, chocolate chips, pecans or raisins are another specialty. The weekends are very busy, with standing room only as a common practice. No credit cards, checks or phone-in orders accepted. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Offering a nice cup of strong coffee and a variety of imported gifts. Bolivian crafts fill the small café with a collection of jewelry, boxes, jackets, furniture and framed artwork. Pacha means earth in Quechua, a language spoken by the indigenous people of Peru and Bolivia. Locally owned by two sisters who also operate the café. The whole family helps out, including the brother who created the beautiful hard-forged door handles. You will also find a selection of light fare including soups and pastries. This café in Hyde Park neighborhood is always filled with locals, students, musicians, families, and anyone who wants to have a nice time. The dark coffee drinks and sandwiches are popular and the Sugar Coated Cinnamon Rolls served here are divine. It's the warm service, however, which forms the icing on the cake! The café has live music performances from time to time, which will make your dining experience more fun. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The place to meet over coffee |
3339 Hancock Drive (@ Balcones) Austin, TX 78731 United States +1 512 419 7877 http://www.russellsbakery.com/... |
When this restaurant was forced to move from its previous location, the surrounding neighborhood got a petition together to keep the bakery. In the new location at Hancock Drive and Balcones Road, the small, family-owned bakery and coffee shop has a new clientèle that is becoming increasingly loyal everyday. From the cinnamon rolls to scones, Russell himself bakes everything on the premises, and the freshly brewed Anderson's Coffee is delicious. The Breve is especially tasty and sure to give you the wake-up call you need on your way to work. With its eclectic selection of tables and chairs, Russell's is a great place to meet for work or pleasure. Review © 2007, Wcities |
