Asti Trattoria

Fresh and creative Italian dishes
408C East 43rd Street
Austin, TX 78751
United States
+1 512 451 1218
http://www.astiaustin.com
Located in the heart of Hyde Park, this classy Italian restaurant will dazzle your taste buds. The decor is modern with contemporary features. Large windows allow light to shine in and give warmth to the space. It is upscale, clean and comfortable, with dimmed lighting in the evening. Start with the Oven Roasted Mussels spiced with white wine, tomato and garlic. Or try the Semolina Fried Calamari, served with its own special sauce. The restaurant offers a selection of pizzas including a White Pizza with truffle oil mozzarella, fontina and provolone cheese with fried sage leaves. Another favorite is the Grilled Eggplant Pizza with fontina & oregano. Main dishes include several pasta and meat selections.

Central Market Cafe

Casual restaurant
4001 North Lamar Blvd
Austin, TX 78756
United States
+1 512 206 1000
http://www.centralmarket.com/c...
Whether it's a quick lunch or leisurely dinner on the deck, this cafe goes way beyond expectations for a grocery-store eatery. As Central Market is no ordinary grocery store, so Cafe on the Run is no pedestrian deli. Soups, salads and sandwiches are all executed with creative flair; for instance, the roast beef sandwich is dressed up with Brie, and the turkey with Havarti. Ingredients are fresh, and most of them are available at the adjacent grocery. And if you don't want to exercise your sweet tooth, stay away from the bakery case. The Creme Brulee and Italian Cream Cake will tempt you every time.

Foodheads

Sandwiches Like Mom Used To Make
616, W. 34th Street
Austin, Texas 78705
United States
+1 512 420 8400
http://www.foodheads.com/
Foodheads began in 1992 as a boxed lunch catering company. The recent addition of a public café in a creaky old house near the UT Drag has attracted quite a crowd. Students and Central Austinites flock to this popular lunch spot on the weekend to enjoy made-from-scratch sandwiches on Foodheads' sunny patio. The casual eatery has a favorable reputation for fresh food, homemade soups, and giant sandwiches like mom used to prepare. Try one of their award-winning specialties with a cold iced tea (Herb Roasted Leg of Lamb, Tuna Nicoise or Grilled Portabella Bleu). Go on an empty stomach - Foodheads doesn't scrimp on the fixins.

Hyde Park Bar and Grill

Favorite American restaurant
4206 Duval Street
Austin, TX 78751
United States
+1 512 458 3168
This is a perennial Austin favorite. Some come for the battered fries served with pepper-and-onion-spiked mayonnaise; others for the Chicken-fried Steak with its crispy exterior topped with luscious cream gravy. Everyone has a favorite here. But it is not just the reliably tasty food that attracts folks; it is the laid-back, friendly atmosphere, the people-watching and the late hours. Grilled Fish and salads are on the menu, along with the heartier Chicken-fried Steak and tasty, acclaimed burgers. You may be too full for dessert, although you will be missing out, if you skip it.

Mother's Cafe and Garden

Vegetarian comfort food
4215 Duval St
Austin, TX 78751
United States
+1 512 451 3994
http://www.motherscafeaustin.com/
Vegetarian food may not have the Texas pedigree of barbecued ribs or tacos al carbon, but at Mother's Cafe and Garden at Hyde Park, it is as toothsome as any native cuisine. Besides, this is as vegetarian a town as Texas can boast, so sampling spinach lasagna or even tofu barbecue is an essential part of the Austin experience. The menu runs the gamut from butter-and-cheese-laden dishes to skinnier choices, such as brown rice and vegetables. Such an accommodating list of dishes is an indication of the laid-back, cozy atmosphere here, where everyone is welcome, and everyone leaves satisfied.

Four star coffee bar
411 East 43rd Street

This café in Hyde Park neighborhood is always filled with locals, students, musicians, families, and anyone who wants to have a nice time. The dark coffee drinks and sandwiches are popular and the Sugar Coated Cinnamon Rolls served here are divine. It's the warm service, however, which forms the icing on the cake! The café has live music performances from time to time, which will make your dining experience more fun.
