Who among us hasn't always wanted to enjoy a cold beer at the movies? Here, you can. In fact, you will find a nice selection of both domestic and imported beers, as well as wines and champagnes. The libations help you wash down the tasty pizzas, chicken wings or cheese- and salsa-smothered nachos as you take in a flick. Children at least 6 years of age can accompany their parents; patrons must ordinarily be at least 18 to attend on their own. The theater features mostly independent films. Dessert food |

For truly exotic food that you won't find at every street corner in Texas, try the subtle cuisine of Persia. In true Middle Eastern style, the reception is warm and welcoming and the menu consists of food evocative of the Arabian Nights - sensuous and bold. The menu highlights are the Kashk-o-Bademjan; a rich, smoky, baked-eggplant starter topped with dry yogurt, mint, walnuts and garlic, and Chelo Kabob-e-Koobideh (ground beef kabob) with char-grilled tomatoes with herbs and onions. The dessert menu has delightful items such as Persian ice cream with rosewater, pistachios and saffron. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Step into this eclectic restaurant and let the haunting Middle Eastern music, belly dancers and aromas of incense and exotic food transport you to another world. Choose from a variety of dishes including lamb, chicken and fish, plus several vegetarian items. The salmon wrapped in grape leaves is heavenly and the vegetables are always grilled to perfection. The 'mini-combo' combines fresh hummus and tabbouleh with hot rounds of pita bread. Try the powerful pomegranate juice or a slice of Baklava after dinner. Diners may bring their own alcoholic drinks into the restaurant for a USD1 corking fee per person. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The Austin Diner (earlier Laura's Bluebonnet Kitchen) comes very close to being a 50s diner cliche. The tables and chairs are vintage fifties style and a collection of vintage percolators, coffee pots and toasters catch your eye. Make yourself comfortable and a plethora of choices (from ginger pancakes to biscuits smothered in cream gravy) lie before you. The Austin Diner also makes huevos rancheros and other assorted Tex-Mex fare. The Cinnamon Rolls with warm butter glaze are a good choice; the Diner Special with its eggs, bacon, sausages, fries and biscuits is enough to feed a small convoy of bodyguards. This is the only place in Austin offering certified Black Angus beef. An ideal place for hard-core carnivores, BBQ World Headquarters also sells chicken, Pork Roast, etc. by the pound and in large family sized portions. Dig into some perfectly trimmed Brisket, tender sausages and mouth watering Smoked Angus Beef while you're here. Billy's on Burnet is your around the corner friendly neighborhood beer and burger hangout. A place to kick back, let your hair down and sip the local brews which go great with the chicken wings and fries. That doesn't mean that the food here is worth a pass. Billy's on Burnet are partial to burgers, with the Ends and the Schults being named after a local band and their lead singer(no clue about Reuben the sandwich). The daily lunch specials have regular names like meatballs and meatloaf, but standing out is The Vegetarian. Amongst the fans, the football freaks and the kind who love their laptop, even those standing out blend in well. That's Billy's for you. Review © 2007, Wcities |

If you're used to a traditional cafeteria setting, be advised, things work differently at Blue Star Cafeteria. Branding themselves as a cafeteria with a twist, Blue Star serves what they call "uptown comfort food", and you don't have to stand in line holding a tray. Expect chicken fried quail, pork chops (glazed with honey), Crunchy Cod(with home made horseradish and mash potatoes)—you get the drift. The Blue Star's excellent kids menu features macaroni and cheese, pizza and other munch kin favorites. If wine is your hobby, sign up for the wine tasting(once a month), and if that's over committing, it's best to settle with a Chilean wine at the Happy Hour. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Buca di Beppo is the place to be if one is searching for good, authentic Italian food. The food as well as the decor is very much Italian in style. Once settled, order from the large Italian fare, that comprises of dishes such as insalate portofino, chicken pesto, chicken parmigiana or ravioli al pomodoro. There are also a variety of salads and pizzas. The place is inspired by the village tradition, so the servings are comparatively large. Review © 2007, Wcities |

By the time you reach the end of this sentence, a new Tex-Mex restaurant would've opened in Austin. Of the many eateries, El Caribe is one. A blink-and-you-miss the establishment if you're driving past it, you would never guess it's been placed in three competitions at the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Contest. The pick of El Caribe's salsas are the mango and the chipotle-plum tomatillo(both sweet and hot) and the spicy avocado and tomato and jalapeño(spicy). Get the chicken stuffed with cheese, chorizo, and onions(the Chef's special) for the main course. If there's one thing that will worry some, it's how to contain an expanding stomach in this tiny place. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Step inside this hacienda-style restaurant and find yourself whisked far south to the Mexican interior, where fine food is served in a charming colonial atmosphere. Chef Roberto Sabatinez has added his own creative dishes to the menu of old favorites, including a wonderfully imaginative chile relleno that employs an ancho chile rather than the usual poblano. Traditional dishes are well-prepared and the desserts go beyond many Mexican restaurants where flan is the only offering. Brunch is not to be missed; especially for those who love the Mexican custom of making the late morning meal a long, leisurely affair. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Since 1991, this fabulous north Austin restaurant has been serving up some of the best American cuisine around. Houston's has a business casual atmosphere with a touch of elegant flair. A full bar is available for patrons. Burgers and sandwiches provide a delectable treat for lunch. Perhaps a salad with one of the company's signature salad dressings would be more your style: mustard-honey, hot bacon, bleu cheese, buttermilk garlic, and classic vinaigrette. Vegetarian street food |
9616 North Lamar Blvd Suite 195 Austin, TX 78753 United States +1 512 339 0808 |
Lost in a strip-mall sea of dentist offices and second-rate video stores, it might take you a while to find this street-food treasure featuring vegetarian food in the tradition of South India. The local favorite was chosen by the Austin Chronicle as Best Vegetarian. Three reasons: it is cheap, fast and like nothing you have eaten before. That is, unless you are used to pancakes twice as big as the plate, crisply fried with lentil curry and coconut salsa. Or, how about the Chole Samosa? That is two samosas soaked in chickpea gravy, topped with sweet-hot sauces, chopped onions and cilantro. Wash it down with a Masala Tea or a mango flavored yogurt drink they call Lassi. A lack of ambiance is excused by sheer authenticity. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This restaurant is decorated as a French cafe in the countryside and the patriarchal owner of this chain really does hail from France. Many of the recipes come from owner Patrick Esquerre's mother's recipe box. The Tomato Basil Soup is a big favorite during fall and winter; use it to start a meal of quiche, Roasted Chicken, wood-fired pizzas or simply a Caesar Salad. 105 Main Street Austin, TX 78954 United States +1 979 249 3611 http://www.royersroundtopcafe.com |
This renowned eatery is located halfway between Austin and Houston. Apart from the varied menu, this spot is popular for its sumptuous pies. Go for the Shrimp Stuffed Grilled Quail- a whole boneless quail stuffed with grilled shrimps, cilantro and wrapped in bacon. And for the calorie conscious, it offers the Big Café Salad with delicious Cilantro Ranch. Last, but not the least, don't miss out on the 'Pies'. Apple Pie, Pecan Pie, Chocolate Pie, Cinnamon Roll…the list is never ending. In addition, get the pies delivered anywhere in Texas. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The place to meet over coffee |
3339 Hancock Drive (@ Balcones) Austin, TX 78731 United States +1 512 419 7877 http://www.russellsbakery.com/... |
When this restaurant was forced to move from its previous location, the surrounding neighborhood got a petition together to keep the bakery. In the new location at Hancock Drive and Balcones Road, the small, family-owned bakery and coffee shop has a new clientèle that is becoming increasingly loyal everyday. From the cinnamon rolls to scones, Russell himself bakes everything on the premises, and the freshly brewed Anderson's Coffee is delicious. The Breve is especially tasty and sure to give you the wake-up call you need on your way to work. With its eclectic selection of tables and chairs, Russell's is a great place to meet for work or pleasure. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A bit of Brazil on Burnet road |
4800, Burnet Road Austin, TX 78756 United States +1 512 469 9988 http://www.sampaiosrestaurant.... |
Specializing in Brazilian cuisine, albeit with a contemporary touch, Sampaio's is a place for all occasions. There's variety on the menu, and a lot of the dishes are new and exciting, largely because one rarely comes across an authentic Brazilian restaurant. The bar is well stocked, with wine as well as beer. Start with a Caipirinha(sugar cane juice and rum, with lime) with a side order (cheese or chicken pastries, accompanied with a tangy sauce) before you move on to the Galinhada (Brazilian paellas), churrasco beef or the milanesa. There may be a little bit of trail and error, but when the errors turn out as tasty, no one's complaining! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Russian romp! |
5523 Balcones Drive Austin, TX 78731 United States +1 512 459 1449 |
Sasha's is, without a doubt, a Russian establishment. The blue-hued walls, fresh flowers and petite tables create a pleasant ambiance, while the aroma of good cooking wafts around. The food, with traces of Georgian and Siberian influences, tingles the taste-buds. Try the pickled staple - Sauerkraut and Cucumber. That's not all - Russian literature, CDs, DVDs, and even toys are available. All in all, a nice place to eat and brush up on your Russian. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Southeast Asian cuisine for every palate |
3202 West Anderson Lane Suite 205 Austin, TX 78757 United States +1 512 467 6731 http://www.satayusa.com |
Satay is not just a restaurant. It's also the name of this restaurant's specialty - thinly-sliced marinated meat on skewers grilled and served with spicy sauces and cucumber salad. It's a dish of choice in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Try Satay with pork, beef, chicken, shrimp or vegetables. The master chef here (who has appeared with Dom De Luis in TV cooking programs) uses absolutely no MSG, and only vegetable and canola oils. Die-hard vegetarians revel in the vegetarian buffets on the first and third Sundays of each month. The restaurant also packages amazing sauces and salsas. Pick up 16-ounces of any sauce or salsa from a wide selection (including spicy peanut and ginger sweet and sour). Review © 2007, Wcities |

It is the all American menu of sausages, sandwiches, rolls, sizzler's and steaks not to forget the healthy salad menu here. They are all priced moderately and the live band ruckus just adds the right amount of spice to your evenings. Draught and bottled beer are available too. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Upscale Tuscan cuisine |
6203 North Capital of Texas Highway Building B Austin, TX 78731 United States +1 512 349 7667 http://www.sienarestaurant.com |
The restaurant, nestled at the base of Mount Bonnell, is housed within an exquisite stone building fashioned after the farmhouses of the Italian countryside. Once inside, the menu is equally inviting, consisting of traditional yet creative Tuscan dishes with a special focus on roasted game. One signature dish is Pappardelle Pasta with Wild Boar. Provincial soups, breads, and desserts are abundant, and there is also a five-course menu available. The selection of Italian wines is especially extensive. It is currently quite a popular destination, and the clientele generally arrives in business or evening attire appropriate for fine dining. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Just northwest of downtown, located in Gateway Square, is one of the newest additions to a growing population of sushi restaurants in Austin. The decor is simple and modern in design, with muted browns and tans filling the color scheme. The ambiance from day to night is quite different. Daytime hours offer a casual atmosphere for business meetings or quick lunches. In the evening, candles light the dining area creating a relaxed environment. The curved sushi bar seats more than just a handful of people and the sushi chefs enjoy conversing with customers. If you do not see a sushi roll you are interested in on the menu, discuss what you are looking for with the sushi chefs and they will try to accommodate your needs. There is also an extensive Japanese menu, including a separate vegetarian section. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Chinese food with a touch of class |
7858 Shoal Creek Boulevard Austin, TX 78757 United States +1 512 302 4600 http://www.suzischinagrill.com |
Upon entering, you will be struck by the softness of the place. The lighting and decor creates an ambiance that is both comfortable and classy. The food is tasty and unique, and the service is impeccable, especially since it is Suzi herself who actually delivers the food to your table. The Sesame Chicken is a house favorite and you can tailor the degree of spiciness of any dish to your taste. As an appetizer, try the Hot and Sour soup. Loaded with different types of seafood and a touch of pepper, you will be pleasantly surprised at its flavor. Review © 2007, Wcities |

T & S is very popular for its authentic Chinese and Asian cuisine. The chic ambience and friendly service put you in the mood for some fun. Pick your Tilapia from the tank or try the Salt and Paper Shrimp. The Dim-Sum served here during lunch hours is divine and Shell Crabs are something all visitors must try. In short, this place serves fresh seafood at reasonable prices. This place is always flooded with locals, hence reservation is advisable. Parking facility is available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Since its opening in 1990, this Indian restaurant has been a local favorite. The tandoori lamb, chicken and seafood specialties are always a good bet, along with several spicy and mild curry dishes. One popular choice is the Barra Kebab (tandoori lamb), marinated in yogurt and spices to enhance its delicate flavor. Plenty of vegetarian entrees are available too. Fresh naan bread accompanies each entree, and wine is moderately priced. Although the atmosphere is somewhat upscale, casual to more dressy attire is acceptable. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Friendly, small, tasty |
8222 North Lamar Blvd Suite D-33 Austin, TX 78753 United States +1 512 834 6458 |
This house of Vietnamese cuisine has everything going for it but location. If you blink while driving by the Centre North shopping center you might miss it. But once you're inside, Miss Lan will cook up her Special Lo Mein with Stir-Fried Tofu and assorted veggies ($4.75). Or, for the carnivore, the menu offers ham, chicken, pork or beef sandwiches for around two bucks. Enjoy a standard but comfortable atmosphere with calm music and plenty of smiles from the server. Neon beer signs and vintage clocks line the walls of this Austin institution, a gas station-turned-restaurant that also offers up live music. If comfort food is your pleasure, this is the right place, and if you like your vegetables, you will be in heaven. Whatever the entree, seconds on vegetables come free. Pork roast and fried chicken are great, but the chicken-fried steak is not to be missed. The San Antonio Squash will please even those who turn up their noses at the vegetable. And of course, the mashed potatoes and black-eyed peas are heavenly. Rich, crumbly cornbread comes free, but white-flour rolls are extra (and worth it). Review © 2007, Wcities |

Dumplings galore... |
8301 Burnet Road Austin, TX 78757 United States +1 512 458 2263 http://www.tienhong.net/ |
This spacious restaurant is often packed because of the incredible varieties of Dim Sum. Come for a Sunday Brunch and witness the hustling waiters as they pass your table with steaming Dim Sum carts. You can gorge on dumplings, buns, cakes and various noodle dishes. If Dim Sum is not for your taste buds, then go for some of the specialty seafood dishes, such as the Red Snapper Filet or Sea Scallops. Review © 2007, Wcities |

When you are on your way to Top Notch, don't be surprised if you have a déjà vu moment. It's probably because you're recalling Matthew McConaughey and his buddies having their burgers and fries at this very place in 'Dazed and Confused'. Top Notch is probably one of the fewest places to have an indoor charcoal grill, which gives their cheeseburgers the added oomph. The fried chicken(with fries and coleslaw on the side) and shrimp is also a local favorite, but neither popularity nor fame can make Top Notch hike their prices. You gotta love them.
