This shop specializes in eastern antiques, furniture and rugs and unique art pieces from Central Asia and the Middle East. Among the assortment of antique and new rugs from Turkey and Persia, you can also find elegant examples from Eastern Europe. Don't miss the turn-of-the-century rustic furniture or the wood carved doors from Uzbekistan. Local artists Katy Nail (oil paintings) and Roberto Plata (mesquite wood sculptures) add their fine pieces to the mix.

Located right in the center of everything, this coffeehouse is a popular place to hang out inside or at an outdoor table, enjoy a cup of fresh-roasted coffee, or grab a bite to eat. A variety of blends and nearly every type of coffee drink a caffeine addict could ask for are here, along with gourmet-quality sandwiches and lunch plates, most for less than USD6. The place is decidedly laid-back and attracts quite a range from professionals to more bohemian types.

This 1876 building was originally the Lundberg Bakery. Its confections have served many a famous visitor, including Ma Ferguson and Teddy Roosevelt. O. Henry was even known to have lunch at this bakery while working at the Old General Land Office building. Listed with the National Register of Historic Places, the bakery occupied the building until 1936. Today, it has been restored and is staffed by volunteers as a gift shop, confectionery and hospitality desk to welcome visitors to Austin.

There is something comforting about family-run Italian restaurants. It conjures up images of big mama serving delicious food. So, step inside for some comfort food at this café-style restaurant minus big mama. The favorites are the Lasagna and Baked Ziti, as well as the Seafood Linguine with Mussels and Scallops. If you want to immerse yourself in cheese, then order the pizza and Eggplant Parmesan Sub. With great home cooking from Southern Italy at an affordable price, this one's a winner.
