Open-air craft market |
Guadalupe Street at West 23rd Austin, TX 78705 United States +1 512 397 1468 http://www.austinartistsmarket... |
This Renaissance Market is one of the highlights of the area known as the Drag, located just across the street from the UT campus. It is open year-round and features the handiwork of some great local artisans. There is no set schedule for vendors as far as participation or time slots—a general rule of thumb is that weekends and around the holidays are the most bountiful. Street performers like mimes and jugglers are often around during these heavy traffic times and add to the lively atmosphere. Selections may include handmade jewelry, purses, tie-dyed T-shirts, paintings, prisms, toys, leather goods and more. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Shops at the Arboretum include Barnes & Noble, The Pottery Barn, Victoria's Secret, Arbor 7 Theater (mainstream, independent and foreign films), The Sharper Image, Banana Republic, Fire Island Hot Glass and several fashion boutiques. The Fiesta Mart is more than a grocery or convenience store. Not only is it the best place to get authentic ingredients from around the world(Mexican tortillas, Jamaican jerk sauce, Polish sauerkraut) but also houses a variety of restaurants (Sno-Beach Hawaiian Shaved ice, Subway) and services(O'Reilly Auto Parts, Western Union, Blockbuster Video, Music Mania). All signs are bi-lingual and Fiesta Mart is open all day everyday. If there's anything missing, it's a bachelor pad and the kitchen sink. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Everything under one roof |
2525 W Anderson Ln Austin, TX 78757 United States +1 512 451 9311 |
Consider this north Austin mall as an alternative to the colder, more impersonal mega-malls that have become standard in recent years. This shopping center is a bit cozier, with some unusual finds inside. Despite its smaller size, though, shoppers will still be able to browse department stores like Oshman's and Bealls, or catch a movie at the resident theater. In addition, the mall offers the only ice skating rink in town, and is home to specialty shops such as Gamefellas, Lammes Candies, and Guitar Center, as well as the Museum of Fine Arts. Upscale women's variety store |
4001 North Lamar Blvd Austin, TX 78756 United States +1 512 452 4220 http://www.scarbroughs.com/ |
Serving Austin since 1890, Scarbrough's was formerly located in Austin's first skyscraper, the historic Scarbrough Building on Congress. Originally a full-service department store, this family-owned specialty boutique now carries items for women only. Their inventory includes casual wear, cosmetics, shoes, jewelry, sportswear and after-five formal wear. This one-stop shopping site in the upscale Central Park Shopping Center is vastly preferable to a mall department store outing any day. Review © 2007, Wcities |
