Open-air craft market |
Guadalupe Street at West 23rd Austin, TX 78705 United States +1 512 397 1468 http://www.austinartistsmarket... |
This Renaissance Market is one of the highlights of the area known as the Drag, located just across the street from the UT campus. It is open year-round and features the handiwork of some great local artisans. There is no set schedule for vendors as far as participation or time slots—a general rule of thumb is that weekends and around the holidays are the most bountiful. Street performers like mimes and jugglers are often around during these heavy traffic times and add to the lively atmosphere. Selections may include handmade jewelry, purses, tie-dyed T-shirts, paintings, prisms, toys, leather goods and more. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Retro/skate/surf fashion |
2025 Guadalupe St Dobie Mall Austin, TX 78705 United States +1 512 476 1672 |
Stepping into this small shop is like being in the dressing room for a fashion shoot. These are extremely stylish clothes for younger men that are surprisingly affordable. The style is street-skate-surf-retro-smooth, not every guy can pull it off, but those who can wear it well. Designers include BC Ethic, Filter, Fossil, Vans, Johnny Suede, Dickies and more. Mixed in with the cool threads are all kinds of curios, namely stickers, wallets, dancing dashboard hula girls, Mexican wrestling masks, inflatable clocks and so on. Review © 2007, Wcities |

For kids of all ages |
2900 Guadalupe Austin, TX 78705 United States +1 512 320 0090 http://www.toyjoy.com/ |
A toy store open at midnight? This is not your typical predigested corporate toy outlet with Star Wars figures and Monopoly. Rather, Toy Joy is a wonderland for unconventional "children" of all ages. Though the inventory includes some popular kid's items like Beanie Babies and Pokemon collectibles, they specialize in the unusual. Similarly, most customers have long outgrown adolescence but not the trappings. This boutique of the bizarre is filled to capacity with selections like sumo wrestler alarm clocks, cube-shaped bubble wands, over sized lava lamps and creative sound makers. A great place to shop for a gift (for yourself?) or to pass an afternoon. Review © 2007, Wcities |
