A bar on the beach |
2809 Boston Street Baltimore, MD 21212 United States +1 410 522 3377 http://www.baycafeusa.com/ |
There's a tradition among Baltimoreans of "going down the ocean" each summer. Now, thanks to this innovative night spot, visitors to the city can participate in that tradition without leaving the comfort of downtown. Pass through the sleek bar area, and across an outdoor terrace, and you'll find a lovely man-made beach dotted with palm trees, tiki lamps and tables. There you can enjoy a seaside ambiance, watching boast glide across the bay, sipping cocktails and sample some first-rate bar-fare, including a great bowl of crab soup. Friday happy hour from 5p-7p features a free buffet; Sunday features a wacky "Jamaica Me Crazy" Party. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lively Irish pub |
2918 O'Donnell Street Baltimore, MD 21224 United States +1 410 522 4220 http://www.claddaghonline.com/ |
It is an unwritten rule that every Baltimore neighborhood must have at least one Irish pub, and this busy establishment fills Canton's quota in spades. It's not so much the meat-and-potatoes menu, or the pictures of Irish musicians adorning the walls that make this such a great pub. The spirit of the place is what makes it so special. Whether you're in the bar for a Guinness, or in the dining room feasting on Rack of Lamb, you'll be sure to smile. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cozy pub offers great food |
2921 O'Donnell Street Baltimore, MD 21224 United States +1 410 342 0999 http://www.coburnstavern.com |
This tavern has a decidedly English-pub feel to it with its faux fireplace, wood tables and mirrored bar. The food extends beyond the traditional pub offerings to include breakfast and fresh salads, Wild Mushroom Strudel and Ethic Pizza, a hand-tossed dough topped with grilled onions, olives, spinach and feta cheese. House specialties include the Crab Pot Pie and a tasty Paella that combines shrimp, clams, chicken, chorizo, ham and saffrom rice with garlic, tomatoes, artichokes, onions and peas. Casual, off-beat martini bar |
2933 O'Donnell Street Baltimore, MD 21224-4823 United States +1 410 563 5000 |
Not quite for martini lovers only - but close. This nifty bar, located in the newly revitalized Canton neighborhood, offers nearly a dozen varieties of the classic cocktail. You can sip, stir and shake in the downstairs bar area of this renovated row home, or relax in the dreamy upstairs dining room, which features dark blue walls festooned with painted clouds and stars. The menu is better than average bar-fare with an emphasis on seafood and a heavy Italian influence. All in all, it's a great place to unwind. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Mellow Southwestern-style eatery |
2318 Fleet Street Baltimore, MD 21224 United States +1 410 732 1961 http://www.geckosonline.com/ |
This small restaurant combines a casual atmosphere with excellent food. Here, the cacti centerpieces, the giant lizard over the bar and other Southwestern touches let you know you're in for a spicy experience. And the food doesn't disappoint. The Smoked Shrimp Quesadilla and the Grilled Tequilla Shrimp are both fantastic. And how can you not fall for a place where the kitchen makes its own tortilla chips. The restaurant also makes a mean coconut flan. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Gentlemen's Gold Club is a place to hold your bachelor or bachelorette parties. The strip club has a great menu, fine cigars, and a Champagne room, which is open until late. A free shuttle service to and from your hotel in the neighborhood is also offered. Packages, such as Bronze and Gold, includes cover charge, beer, finger food buffet and lasts for two hours. The bartenders and wait staff are friendly and the whole atmosphere rings of gaiety and loads of cheering. Guests have to be above 21 and observation of the dress code is a must. Friendly upscale bar |
2300 Boston Street Baltimore, MD 21224 United States +1 410 327 6455 http://www.theginmillcanton.com/ |
This bright, friendly, upscale bar, located between Fell's Point and Canton, is a favorite nighspot for young professionals. The bare-brick interior walls, the hardwood floors, the fireplaces, the three large bars and two pool tables all make for a great environment in which to unwind after a busy day. The menu of sandwiches, wings and soups is good, but the Blue Point oysters on the half-shell are great. Oddly enough, there aren't many tables or chairs, so unless you get here early, you will be standing. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Jewel of a bistro |
2908 O'Donnell Street Baltimore, MD 21224 United States +1 410 276 2233 http://www.helensgarden.com/V2/ |
This tiny jewel of a bistro does many things very well. On one hand, it is a great coffee bar. On the other hand, it is a dandy wine bar, with a list that's affordable and eclectic. Then again, it is a vegetarian restaurant, boasting items like the La Luna (eggplant, greens and provolone wrapped in a pesto flatbread!). However, the seafood entrees are the best. Finally, the downstairs is a bustling café, and the upstairs a cozy, candle-lit, folk-art styled hide-away. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Quirky, inexpensive fare |
1222 Hull Street Baltimore, MD 21230 United States +1 410 727 7476 http://www.hullstreetblues.com/ |
This charming restaurant in South Baltimore's Locust Point began as a saloon in 1889. Today, it's an elegant cafe with an attached bar. The eclectic menu focuses on seafood - from Shrimp Scampi to Steamed Mussels - though other gourmet dishes are also offered. Try the savory Filet Mignon or Chicken Oreganato, a boneless breast of chicken prepared with fresh oregano, tomatoes, olive oil and white wine. The proprietors, Kathy and Dan Macatee, take special pride in their Sunday brunch - a smorgasbord packed with tasty treats. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Green Days |
1371 Andre Street Baltimore, MD 21230-5303 United States +1 410 244 8613 |
This is as close to an authentic Irish pub as you're going to get. It has a relaxed atmosphere with upbeat live music on Fridays and the weekend. There is no cover charge, which is a relief; and both the drinks and the food are very reasonable. The pub extends beyond its usual mode and offers dance lessons on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It's an ideal place to visit on St. Patrick's Day - celebrate with a large crowd and hog on the staple food of Ireland - Corned Beef and Cabbage. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tasty pub grub and seafood |
2522 Fait Avenue (at the corner of S. Rose Street) Baltimore, MD 21224-3721 United States +1 410 342 3100 http://www.lagerspub.com/ |
Many locals flock to this neighborhood favorite for the tasty pub grub, burgers, pizza and spicy chicken wings served with celery and sour cream. If you are a seafood lover looking for heartier fare, you will love the chef's version of Shrimp Scampi, which is served in a bread bowl. The crab cake sandwich is also delicious, and the Portabello Wrap is not to be missed. It combines grilled mushrooms, onions, and green peppers, topped with provolone cheese and served on a sun-dried tomato shell. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lively Mexican bar and restaurant |
2907 O'Donnell Street Baltimore, MD 21224-4821 United States +1 410 675 0898 |
Canton, located just a few minutes to the Northeast of downtown, is the most recent in a fairly long line of revitalized Baltimore neighborhoods. As such, it has become home to young professionals and urban hipsters. One of the favorite hangouts of this energetic crowd is this small, friendly Mexican restaurant that offers enormous portions of good food at modest prices. The Portabello Mushroom and Spinach Quesadilla is terrific, National Bohemian beer is only USD1 a bottle, and at least a dozen portraits of Elvis grace the walls. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Touted as Baltimore's best strip club, Night Club rules the roost as far as adult entertainment goes. Its special features include a separate VIP section, nude dancers as well as a full kitchen and bar. The minimum age limit of 21 years applies at this club too, excluding those few lucky nights when you can get away with being 18 years old. Plus, for those who enter before 7p there's no cover charge to pay - so start your evening a little early, people! Either way, you can always enjoy their daily special drinks and shooters. Nothing fishy about it! |
2350 Boston Street Baltimore, MD 21224 United States +1 443 524 1454 http://www.redfishusa.com/home... |
The façade of this restaurant reminds you of the twilight sky, except for the startling neon sign, that give the scene life. Cool blue interiors, with white tablecloths and woody chairs continue with the natural theme. Ask to be seated near the green marble fireplace, and relax as the staff efficiently brings in your order. Redfish Wings, the Seafood Salad and the Fiery Steak should satisfy the growling stomach. Other charmingly rustic choices would be the Clay Pot Lamb, Paella and Jambalaya. The restaurant's private dining room makes for a cozy family dinner, and the banquet room can host a party of 70. A flexible menu is available here, and you can design your own courses with the affable chef, who also takes into account the size of your wallet. Review © 2007, Wcities |
