Dancing and a great view |
One East Chase Street Baltimore, MD 21202 United States +1 410 347 0888 http://www.the13th-floor.com/i... |
This nightspot offers a breathtaking view of the city from the top floor of the old Belvedere Hotel. Settle in for happy hour and watch the dusk settle over the city as its lights gradually begin to twinkle on. The calm won't last much past 9pm though. That's when local dance bands take the stage, the disco ball begins to swirl, and the club transforms into a slightly silly dash and thoroughly retro dance party. Two Saturdays a month, the Cajuns take over and local disco takes a backseat to local Zydeco. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Great beer and hearty food |
1106 N Charles Street Baltimore, MD 21201 United States +1 410 547 6925 http://www.thebrewersart.com/i... |
This Charles Street establishment, set in an opulent row house just north of downtown, boasts great food and a great bar. The downstairs bar features scores of micro-brews from around the region and the country. It's a grotto-like space, perfect for intimate conversation, and very popular with Baltimore's young professionals. The upstairs restaurant, with its marble fireplaces and raftered ceilings, is cozy and warm, and offers fare that's both hearty and inventive. The Saffron Ravioli should not be missed. Celebrate at Celebrities! |
8 East Pleasant Street Tremont Park Hotel Baltimore, MD 21202 United States +1 410 576 1200 http://www.tremontsuitehotels.... |
If you are a true movie buff and love to be pampered as one, Celebrities Lounge is the place to be. Autographed pictures of stars from the television and movie world adorn the walls of this restaurant. The interiors are very earthy and cave-like, giving the place an intimate and cozy look. And the menu is far more colorful than the décor. Try the Crab and Artichoke Dip and Bacon-wrapped Shrimp, or pick from a variety of salads, soups and steaks! Have a cool drink or two with your friends after work or simply lounge around. The bartenders, who sometimes double up as waiters, are polite and affable. Review © 2007, Wcities |

For the Likes of Men |
1 West Eager Street Baltimore, MD 21201 United States +1 410 547 0069 http://clubhippo.com/HippoClub... |
The Hippo has been voted the best gay bar in Baltimore for three years in a row. For 35 years it has been the refuge of the city's vibrant gay community. Weeknights feature 'Hip Hop night' with DJ Rosie or DJ Kuhmeleon and show-night with 'Female Impersonation'. An Exotic Dining Delicacy |
518 North Charles Street Baltimore, MD United States +1 410 727 1800 http://ixia-online.com/ |
Named for a tall, slender flower native to South Africa, Ixia lives up to its namesake of exotic delicacy. The blue color scheme creates a cool, sophisticated atmosphere to offset Ixia's chic menu. Dishes like Southern Fried Pecan Crusted Chicken and Wasabi Pea Crusted Wild Salmon give American dishes a European and Asian flair. Ixia's cocktail lounge is a popular spot for dinners to lounge for after dinner drinks and dessert. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Good bar with great ribs |
909 North Charles Street Baltimore, MD 21201 United States +1 410 685 7427 |
Ask "Who has the best ribs in town?" and the locals are likely to reply: Mount Vernon Stable. There really is something special about the ribs here; indeed, about all the barbecue dishes. The sauce is tangy, smokey, thick and just about perfect. The décor deserves a mention, too. Where else can you find a stuffed boar's head, grinning gargoyles and a real live (and presumably empty) sarcophagus? Review © 2007, Wcities |

For your comfort |
909 North Charles Street Baltimore, MD 21201 United States +1 410 685 7427 http://www.mvstable.com/ |
Comfort dining is the catch phrase of this food joint. All kinds of crowds stream in—it was also awarded the Best Lesbian Bar of Baltimore in 2003. You'll find all American, contemporary and innovative cuisine at this eatery. Chill out with friends over pints of beer with the comforting jukebox continuously playing favorite numbers. Else make your way upstairs, for a quiet time with your date. Start with appetizers like Gorgeously Garlic Shrimp and graduate to something like Mix 'n Match, where you get to choose what goes into your pasta. A favorite among patrons, though, is the Baby Back Ribs. Drop by on a Sunday and avail of the likes of carafes of Bloody Mary or mimosa for brunch. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Fine Italian fare |
405 N Charles Street Baltimore, MD 21201 United States +1 410 625 0534 http://www.sottosoprainc.com/ |
This elegant restaurant features floor-to-ceiling murals of cafe scenes and gilded mirrors. The owners redecorated the dining room in the mid-90s; only the cracked tile floor is original. To start, try a half-order of the Gnocchi in red pepper sauce or sample from the Tapas Bar. For a main course, the thin-crusted pizza is a nice choice. Made with homemade sauce and topped with mozzarella, it is a gourmet delight. For dessert, choose from truffles, fresh fruit served with ice cream and Profiteroles with chocolate sauce.
