Modest menu attracts loyal following |
629 South Broadway Baltimore, MD 21231-2915 United States +1 410 534 4255 |
A Hello-Kitty sake figurine greets patrons in the dining room, which is dominated by a long sushi bar. The atmosphere is cozy, the food delicious. Salmon Terriyaki, several Katsu dishes and a wide selection of creative sushi rolls are available. Try the Asashi Special, filled with deep-fried shrimp, crab and avacado, or the Fells Point roll. It's filled with eel and avocado wrapped in fresh tuna. If you prefer your food cooked, try the Tan Katsu, a breaded pork chop served with rice and covered in a savory sauce. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Eat mussels at Bertha's |
734 South Broadway Fells Point Baltimore, MD 21231 United States +1 410 327 5795 http://berthas.com/ |
In Baltimore, Bertha's means the blues - and mussels to beat the band. Offered with your choice of eight sauces, Bertha's Mussels are plump, tender, and steamed just right. For years this Fells Point landmark has been giving out green bumper stickers that simply state: "Eat Bertha's Mussels." The rest of the seafood entrees are also very good. They, too, boast fresh ingredients and a sure touch. The décor is warm and funky, the atmosphere lively, and, on weekends, even rowdy. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Freshest seafood available |
814 South Bond Street Baltimore, MD 21231 United States +1 410 276 7141 http://www.theblackolive.com/ |
The Blue crab has always been king of Baltimore's seafood scene, but recently a new generation of restaurants has been challenging the crab's rule. The Black Olive, located in Fells Point, the heart of old Baltimore's maritime district, is perhaps the best. Only the freshest fish are displayed in The Black Olive's case, and guests can choose anything from locally caught Rockfish to more exotic fare. Selections are then grilled to perfection, filleted at tableside and served with the house's amazing Mediterranean-style sauces. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Great breakfast all weekend |
1621 Aliceanna Street Baltimore, MD 21231-2925 United States +1 410 522 3940 |
Breakfast is the name of the game at this small but lively Fells Point eatery. They've got all the standards: French toast, pancakes and a wide variety of eggs, but the specialties are what really shine. Take the Crab Benedict, for instance, or the delicious Crab Crepe. During the week, the plain but tastefully decorated room is open during the typical breakfast and brunch hours. But from Friday through Sunday it's open all night long, and jammed with gadabouts topping off a late night with a hearty breakfast. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Casual waterside dining |
1629 Thames Street Fells Point Baltimore, MD 21231 United States +1 410 522 6600 |
This lovely little harborside restaurant, in the heart of Fells Point, is a tranquil place to enjoy a good meal. It's a colorful restaurant, with green tabletops and blue chairs, and lots of windows that offer a spectacular view of the harbor. The food is simple but well prepared, and the seafood entrees are particularly good. The Crab Dip appetizer (with spinach leaves and artichokes) and the Chicken Chesapeake (boneless breasts in crab sauce) are both first-rate. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Terrific Spanish food in romantic setting |
505 South Broadway Baltimore, MD 21231-2913 United States +1 410 276 7700 |
The dining room of this Spanish restaurant is romantic, with dark wood paneling, an antique sideboard and candlelit tables. Owner Jose Guiterrez, better known as Chef Pepe and his partner Antonio Aybar have created a restaurant with Latin charm, where Tapas are the house specialty. Each small dish is prepared to perfection, from jumbo shrimp to little squares of Frittata. For the main course, consider the veal, which is served with sauteed mushrooms, or the Cazuela Pescador a symphony of shrimp, scallops, fish and calamari. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Whimsical architecture and great food |
2127 Boston Street Baltimore, MD 21231-3217 United States +1 410 327 8600 / +1 410 327 2411 (Carry Out) http://captainjameslanding.com/ |
A terrific example of architectural whimsy, this Fells Point restaurant looks just like an old ship steaming silently up Boston Street bound for the neighborhood of Canton. Inside, however, the spacious and often raucous, dining area and the half-moon bar reveal it for what it is, an old-school restaurant where very good food is served at very reasonable prices. As one might expect, the seafood specialties, such as a marvelous Flounder Fillet stuffed with crabmeat are what stand out here. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Baltimore's premier Irish music pub |
1730 Thames Street Fells Point Baltimore, MD 21231 United States +1 410 276 9866 http://www.catseyepub.com/ |
According to Celtic music aficionados, this Fells Point pub is the place to go in Baltimore to hear authentic Irish folk music. With its wood-paneled walls and gigantic oak bar, it's the perfect setting for hoisting a glass of Guinness or Harp and enjoying a jig or reel. The steady stream of Irish musicians is supplemented by local and national jazz, blues and zydeco acts. Fell's Point can be nuts on weekends, so to enjoy the full homey effect of this place, visit during the week. Review © 2007, Wcities |

An elegant and gracious treat |
1000 Lancaster Street Baltimore, MD 21202 United States +1 410 332 7373 http://www.charlestonrestauran... |
It's easy to forget - except, of course during the sweltering summer months - that Baltimore is, essentially, a southern town. But it's always easy to appreciate this downtown restaurant's elegant, yet simple, French-inspired Southern cuisine. Take the fried oysters, for instance, in their golden-brown cornmeal batter, or the crab soup that's as creamy as most bisques. These are true examples of gracious living. Add the tranquil, pastel-colored decor and the expert service and you come up with a most enjoyable dining experience. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Crabs and more! |
606 South Broadway Street Fells Point Baltimore, MD 21231 United States +1 410 327 7900 http://www.crabby-dicks.com/ |
The specialty at this restaurant is obviously crabs, freshly caught and cooked to perfection. Apart from that, this neighborhood hub also serves a variety of seafood delights like scallops, shrimps and oysters. A couple of beers to go with your order and you'll swear you've never had a better seafood meal before. The interiors with all of the memorabilia and knick-knacks kept around might seem a little cluttered, but the overall look with the wooden bar and brick walls is pretty homely. If for nothing else, a trip to Crabby Dick's is definitely worth the crabs! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Very atmospheric Chinese restaurant |
631 South Broadway Baltimore, MD 21231-2915 United States +1 410 327 8888 http://www.fetchfood.com/Resta... |
This fine Fells Point restaurant serves an eclectic mix of Hunan and Szechuan cuisine with an emphasis on seafood, particularly shrimp, crab and lobster. The dishes are imaginatively prepared and flavorful, and there's a general air of sophistication about the place. The dim, almost moody, lighting, combined with the sleek contemporary décor, make the restaurant seem like a movie set. The bar is well stocked and tended, and offers a great variety of Chinese and domestic beers. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Great Greek food |
710 South Broadway Baltimore, MD 21231-3406 United States +1 410 342 8711 |
The first floor of this small Fells Point bistro features a long bar and is sparsely decorated, with exposed brick walls and a few scattered tables. An upstairs dining room offers a comfortable place to enjoy the chef's tasty creations. The menu includes a wide range of entrees from Sirloin Steak to Chicken Brochettes. Many have a Mediterranean flavor, inspired by the Greek heritage of the owners, twin brothers Theo and Chris Solmonides. For dessert, try the Baklava or a slice of Carrot Cake. This restaurant attracts huge crowds. It has a perfect combination of good food and a great view of Baltimore's dock. A sister concern of the Kawasaki restaurant in Baltimore, this joint offers Japanese, American and Mediterranean fare. That apart, the cafe loves to experiment and you'd be wise to ask about the meal of the day. Choose between the shrimp, vegetable and combination Tempuras. Try the Eel Roll or the Oshinko & Carrot Roll. Relish the soups like the Zaru Soba and Cold Udon. Check out the dishes from the sushi bar like Sushi and Sashami Combo. Ah, la vie bohemme! This scruffy but loveable Fells Point coffee and juice shop has such a wonderfully mellow atmosphere that you can relax completely, even while imbibing a highly-caffeinated gourmet coffee drink. The decor could be described as Neon Victorian, a funky blend of the day-glow and the antique, accented with overgrown houseplants and overflowing bookshelves. If you're not up for coffee, try one of the freshly squeezed juice drinks. There's also a selection of tasty sandwiches, humus and organic salads. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Very creative seafood dishes |
1822 Aliceanna Street Baltimore, MD 21231 United States +1 410 675 2080 http://www.pierpointrestaurant... |
This little bistro doesn't have a great deal in common with most of its rowdier Fells Point neighbors. Rather than cater to the hard-partying college crowd or the boho revelers, owner Nancy Longo caters to the food lovers who flock to her cheerful yellow dining room to sample creative versions of traditional Maryland dishes. Her work with seafood (oysters, rockfish, crabmeat) is sublime, and it is epitomized by her smoked crab cakes. She also makes a mean Smoked Duck Quesadilla, and a terrific Eastern Shore Rabbit Sausage. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This cozy pub boasts an antique, copper-topped mahogany bar and candlelit wooden farm tables. The menu is limited (not much longer than the list of beers on draft) but the kitchen offers more than the usual pub grub. Try the Grilled Salmon, daily pasta special or a Chicken Quesadilla, the latter served with sour cream and homemade salsa. If you have room for dessert - the dinner portions are enormous - opt for a slice of pie. Review © 2007, Wcities |
