Set in the heart of mid-town's busy Mount Vernon neighborhood, this quiet, softly lit oasis of a restaurant is the perfect place to restore yourself with a savory lunch or unwind with a hearty dinner. The décor is muted, the furnishings solid, the staff mature and sure-footed, and the traditional Indian cuisine- Sagwala, Makhani, Pulao are simply perfect. All the elements combine to make a visitor feel comfortable and relaxed. The lunch buffet is one of the city's best bargains.

There's a topiary bicycle outside of this lovely Indian restaurant that perfectly accents the staid elegance you'll find inside. Located just north of the Johns Hopkins University's Homewood Campus, this restaurant's interior features dark paneling and burnished brass. It has a kind of reserved formality that's stylish without being intimidating. The Bengali Swordfish, drizzled with mango sauce is a masterpiece, as is the crab malabar. There's also a courtyard, complete with fountain, for warm weather seating.

Proprietor Tony Chemmanoor knows how to keep his faithful patrons happy. His restaurant's delicious Indian fare, coupled with knowledgeable, friendly service, leaves folks with a pleasant memory of a great dining experience. Nestled in a beautiful structure, the interiors reflect ancient Indian culture, with carvings and idols adorning the walls. Enjoy a delicious meal, beginning with creatively decorated appetizers, move on to tasty entrees, such as Chicken Tikka, Seekh Kobab, Kadahi Murg and Lamb Vindaloo. Fish lovers will find Shrimp Masala the most enticing of the marine dishes. Vegetarians also have a good selection on the list. Leave room for a Kulfi, the hard and icy Indian ice-cream.

One of the restaurants of the popular Bombay Grill chain, this one is bright and airy. Revel in the freshness of the ambience and the cuisine. The friendly wait staff serves you a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian dishes, including the hugely popular Tandoori items. Try specialties like the Shahi Korma and Saag Paneer. Is the food a little too spicy for you? Quench your thirst with an exotic drink, or order some wine. You can also carry these exotic delicacies home or have them deliver. Happy eating!

Come, experience the blends of various spices and flavors with a heat only Indian food can provide! Gorge on the Mutton Biryani or the Tandoori items and the varied Pakoras. Baltimore, MD 21218

Patrons of this cozy restaurant dine at glass-topped tables, charmed by the vibrant Indian prints that adorn the walls. Though the atmosphere is pleasing, it's the smooth sauces that have locals raving. From a creamy spinach sauce to a tomato-based masala, you'll find a variety of seductive spices. Of course, the specialty here is tandoor-oven-cooked meats. Select from chicken, seafood, lamb or beef dishes. The Lamb Saag, topped with a delightful spinach sauce, or the Chicken Tikka, which is served on a sizzling platter, are wonderful choices.

Indian Pavilion

Very spicy Indian cuisine
635 West Pratt Street
Baltimore, MD 21201
United States
+1 410 752 5700
Decorated in pastel shades of aquamarine and pink, the multi-level interior of this West Baltimore Indian restaurant is like the inside of a giant exotic flower. The effect is even more delightful because the restaurant is set in a somewhat plain neighborhood of gray rowhouses. Add in the aromas of the ginger, cardamom, turmeric and other spices the kitchen uses so liberally, and you have a genuinely heady experience. The Seafood Vindaloo is a must, with large pieces of tender salmon, shrimp and clams in an incendiary sauce.

Mughal Garden

Great variety of Indian dishes
920 North Charles Street
Baltimore, MD 21201
United States
+1 410 547 0001
http://www.mughalgarden.com
This downtown establishment is distinguished chiefly by the size of its menu. In addition to the typical Vindaloos, Saag and Kebabs, you'll find a fantastic Mulligatawny Soup, a great Salmon Tikka and a Tandoori Lobster that is one of the best seafood entrees in town. Many of these appear on the daily all-you-can-eat buffet, but you'll need to peruse the menu to see everything that is offered. The spacious dining room is modest but inviting, and the atmosphere is very casual.

Tamber's Nifty Fifties Dining

Great Indian and American diner
3327 Saint Paul Street
Baltimore, MD 21218
United States
+1 410 243 0383
Imagine a parallel universe in which a chrome-plated, 1950s era American diner somehow collided with a first rate Indian restaurant. Furthermore, imagine that nothing was damaged, and the only thing to get mixed up was the menu. The result would be something like this friendly neighborhood eatery. Located in the middle of the city, Tamber's offers cheeseburgers and eggs, as well as Tandoori Chicken and Rogin Josh. Everything is perfectly cooked and moderately priced. The crabcake sandwich is one of the best bargains in town.
