Founded in 1858, La Cava Universal has the most famous neighbour in town, the statue of Cristopher Columbus, which dominates the Barcelona port. This bar-cum-café is located at the end of the Les Rambles, very close to the old port, full of pedestrians, tourists and cars. The café also has some tables on the Ramblas. The joint has both indoor and outdoor seating areas. Order some buñuelos (typical fritters rolled in sugar), canapés, omelettes, fruit juice or sandwiches and while away the time while watching the tourists and the activities around you.
