The Pedralbes district is a lovely area to spend the day if you have the time. Tree-lined streets, photogenic architecture, and delicious restaurants are hidden throughout. Because it is mainly a residential district, Pedralbes is a great place to soak in some real Catalan culture that hasn't been subjected to the influence of the tourist dollar. In this area you can visit the Palacio Real de Pedralbes, a royal residence between 1919 and 1929 that was opened up to the public in 1937 to install the Museu de Arts Decoratives that display, among other things, furniture from the time. There is also a ceramic museum with Catalan and Arab pieces, and works by Picasso and Miró. Behind the gardens of the palace, on the Avinguda de Pedralbes, is the entrance to the Finca de los Güell whose doors were designed by Gaudí. Review © 2009, Wcities |
