Since 1969, this place has been the subversive heart of Telegraph Avenue, providing everything from pipes to toys for grown-ups, and pumping out the sounds of Iggy Pop, and Nirvana onto the sidewalk. Inside this darkly cavernous store, you will be lucky to see an inch of black wall or ceiling for all the paraphernalia, including a huge assortment of glass, metal and water pipes, hookahs, incense and tobacco, jewelry and gnomes. Some of the best in traditional American wood can be found at this small shop where the furniture is literally stacked up to the ceiling. Aunt Bill and Emma (yes, real people) stock wingback chairs, an abundance of tables and vanities, chests, rockers and much more. Depending on what has come and gone that week, much of it literally spills out on the sidewalk. For reasons of which they are not entirely sure, they carry a large selection of china items. They also buy and appraise any piece that you are willing to part with, and offer free delivery on any purchase. Review © 2007, Wcities |

You will still find bushels of fresh and organic produce, a wine selection to rival most specialty wine shops, and a complete bakery, butcher and fish market. It also sells a variety of handcrafted teapots and bowls from the East, including genuine Yi Zhing pots. Buy in bulk, or enjoy a steaming pot upstairs at one of the tables or on a tatami mat.
