This is the place to come on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Prenzlauer Berg. With the possible exception of Wohnzimmer, Alea Iacta is the coolest and cosiest place on Helmholtzplatz - perfect for a game of backgammon accompanied by a glass of red wine. The ochre walls are lined with contemporary art, the tables are old and the floorboards worn, forming a vivid contrast to the shiny halogen lamps on the blue ceiling. Young writers scribble in the candlelight to the cheerful sounds of Irish folk music.
