Most Berliners will recognise Bannat's logo from billboards on the U-Bahn: a Bedouin leading a couple of camels through a desert oasis. Founded some 20 years ago and located close to Kurfürstendamm, Bannat is spread over three shops, each of which specialises in a particular area. The left hand shop contains hundreds of walking boots and waterproofs, the right hand shop is full of winter wear (fleeces, jumpers and woolly socks), while the shop in the middle is crammed with travellers' "hardware" such as camping stoves, compasses, Swiss army knives and travel books. The map department has at least one map of every country in the world. Happy holidays!
